Post EVO conversion, what are your opinions?

My friend just told me about a shop that you can bring your Mirage rolling chassis to, and for $25k, they convert your car to a full spec EVO, including engine, transmission, AWD, body, and everything. It would be 100% legal for road use in the US.

What is your opinion on such a conversion?

Why not just buy a scraped mirage and swap over the VIN onto your new imported Lancer?

It sounds like a good idea, but it's kinda pricey. Plus it's still just a Mirage chassis. The EVO chassis has some structural differences.

Because I could never have it insured, and if I ever got into an accident, the EPA would have the car confiscated and promptly crushed.

I am aware of the structural differences, but if the EVO never makes it to the states, it will be the closest thing any of us will ever get to it.

I'm pretty sure it is TAD Motorsports.

As a Mirage owner, I also have the same idea of converting my 97 Mirage into a EVO V replica (although won't be 100% real). I also have the access to import a EVO too given that I'm not a US citizen (drive that thing for one year and then it was "mysteriously" disappeared )

I guess someone like me would really like to have a "daily driven, fully street legal" EVO rather than a race-only machine. Well, it's just my opinion though

Thumbs up

I say if you have the money to do it go ahead and do it their no shame in converting a mirage into a full spec EVO.

why not take that cash and import or buy a real EVO rally car?

yeah maybe u cant drive it every day...

but u asked for an opinion, and in my opinion that's much, much cooler than spending 25k on the 'options'

I've seen a pretty good one in a magazine, turbo'd with a full Evo kit, looked cool.

I'd say if you ain't going go all out racing and you have the $$ to spare .. what's the harm it'd be a sweet a$$ ride , just not a complete EVO !

That's exactly what I am going to do if the 7 doesn't come to the states. However, if I go through with my plans to start rally racing, then I'll just get a real EVO to race with at the track.
