My ES got keyed =[ .. insurance help?
Well my 02 Es was recently keyed. Im not to sure on how i go on getting it repainted through insurance. Never done something like this before but heres the deal.
I already got a police report.
Already went to insurance where they took pics and gave me an estimate of $637 with a deductible of $300 to repaint one side and buff a couple of things on the other side.
Problem is -
I have a couple of things that i would like to fix also like my front bumper and hood needs a repaint badly also. Would it be possible for me to get this done also without paying so much more for everything? i dont really know how to explain this but like is there a way for it all to be estimated by insurance where i would just pay more for the deductible?
if anyone would help i would greatly appreciate it =] i dont know if need to explain into further depth just let me knowww

damm lol yeah i hear you.
Lets say if i go to Maco where i do know someone who does the estimates. Since it has already been estimated by the insurance will it make a difference? Will they give me more lol?

well yea i think so because insurance estimated my claim at 375 for the whole side of my car so i woulda been left with 300 out of my pocket but when i brought it to the dealer to get painted they got 400 more out of insurance for me but i was still left with paying 300
The way that it works, normally, in the insurance game:
You get a police report and then call your insurance company. They should have somebody estimate what it will cost to repair the vehicle to pre-accident/incident condition. There estimate will be for the full cost of the repairs. Usually, your insurance company will find a repair shop that can make the repairs for the amount they estimated. After the shop agrees to do the work for that cost, a check is cut by your insurance company with the amount for repairs minus your deductible. That check will be sent to you or the shop, depending on the company. You may add other items to the repair list, modifications, etc... The insurance company is still only going to pay what they originally said. You will be responsible for the remainder of the bill in order to get your car back.
If the shop decides they can't do the repairs, as originally estimated, for the amount offered, they will have to file a supplement to your insurance to make up the difference.
Here's where is gets tricky... it will be harder for the shop to file a supplement if you have added other items, as they will have to prove that the difference in cost is of no relation to your other work.
So, it would make sense to get it all done at once, and should be cheaper that way. But, it would be easier for everybody to do it separately.
Comes down to this:
Pay a bit more and get it done seperately or save a few buck and have to put up with a bit of BS and longer work time.
Weigh your options, and talk to the shop before you commit.
Hope that helps you out.
