Oil changes....
This has probably been asked a million times already but I searched for it and couldn't find it so I'm going to ask again..
Who gets their oil changed at the dealer everytime? I have so far but it's so hard to get there during the week.. Does it effect the warranty at all if you go to like a Quickchange or do it yourself??

I use to go to the dealer but that became a pain plus dealer will normal charge to much. You just have to keep your receipts of where you did the oil change. If you do it your self just keep the receipts of the oil and filter.
What if you buy oil by the case? Not that I really care because the only warranty I've still got is on my paint
But someone's bound to ask. A case may last you two oil changes on the Lancer so how can you "prove" that you've done two changes for every receipt? Especially if you buy bulk oil filters and/or don't change the filter every time (warranty specifies one oil filter every 2 oil changes).

No, I'm just curious. I personally enjoy changing my own oil. Quick, easy, cheap, I get what filter and oil I want, I know how my oil looks, and I can give the engine a quick look-see for blatant mechanical problems

. As long as you keep your records in order and keep track of everything you should be safe. The dealer will have to prove you didn’t change your oil or put in the wrong oil before they can void your warranty.

I am with Hobie on this one. I don't mind doing my own oil changes. I just rather not go to the dealer for an oil changes. If people want to there is nothing wrong with that, like I said I use to go to the dealer myself.
based on my experiance on buying the car and seeing how the Mitsu service department is, i'm scared to even go back to the dealer to get my oil changed. i don't see how changing your own oil will void your warrany but i can be wrong. it's not like we're tampering with the car. it's too much of a hassle to make an appointment then take time off from work just to get an oil change. i rather take an hour off from my weekend and do it myself.

He said he did it on weekends. I think he means that instead of sitting in front of the TV with his remote in one hand and a beer in the other (
) he'd spend an hour changing his oil.

What i understood from his comment was that he doesn't take it to the dealership because he doesn't want to take time off of work, and that he prefers to do it himself on the weekend.
My comment was that the service department is open on the weekend too, just in case he want to take it in instead of doing it himself. That's it

You know if you return that JP Power & Asso. survey back to the dealership they give you a free oil change. Everytime you go to the dealership you get one of those surveys in the mail, so I just keep taking it back to the dealership for a free oil change.
