Fixing small paint scratch?
Fixing small paint scratch?
So go figure, my car is about a month old, and someone already opened their door, into my passenger side door and scratched the paint. which figures, because im one of those people that parks all the way out in the farthest spot ....where nobody else is parked...
and i still got damage to my car!
Anyhow, i was looking around for those touchup pens, and I assume that the 2008 paint color (graphite gray) is the same as the 2005 color? because the toshiba parts store only lists the color im looking for under 2005 colors.
this is what I found
Color: A39
Part Number: MZ313354
and my question is, is it just a simple task to write over it with the touchup pen after i clean the area, then let the paint dry overnight----or is it more complicated than that, to do myself? it's a considerably small scratch but its WHITE and the car is gray, so its obvious enough to see.

my procedure is this..
1) Clean the area well
2) go over with touch up pen.. Dont worry about overspray
3) place packing tape over the scratch (puts the paint deep into the scratch)
4) wait 3 minutes then remove tape
5) wait till dry
6) buff out the overspray
7) use clearcoat pen marker

yeah, mitsubishi dealership has them. i bought one the other day just to be prepared. it was about 15 bucks and it has clear coat on one side and blue paint on the other. it almost looks like one of those old magic markers, lol.

I haven't had any good luck with the touch up pens. Depending on the size of the scratch you can buff it out or make it less noticeable. I had a ding on the door and I was able to buff it out completely. Only the metal is still curved. A picture would help.
Clear coat paint is the same for every car. I got a touch up paint from mitsubishi which has the color on one side and the clearloat on the other.
