WRX S or The Evo 7?

In your opinion which will be the better buy when they come to the U.S.? As of now I am definately leaning towards the Evo 7. But I will just have to wait to test drive them both and make a verdict.

I think the Sti will be more expensive and more limited #'s will be made...hence a possible dealer markup. I have heard from the Subaru forums that it will probably be 35-38k and the amount made for the US will be around 1700.

No offense, but you're asking this question in an Lancer Evo forum.....if you're expecting to get non-biased answers, you've come to the wrong place.

My opinion....

You want something for a comfortable ride to work with some power behind it, get the STI....

You want a beast of a machine, get the Evo....

Yeah, the evo is going to be a pure power house car over the STI...also the parts world will me more friendly for the evo 7 then the sti...just ask any one on i-club.

The WRX got a hell of a lot of aftermarket support. You're probably right that the STi won't receive as much because it will be in a limited supply, but never underestimate the amount of overseas support. They were ready and waiting for the WRX as soon as it was released here. I am in the exact same boat as you slickmistern. Not sure, but leaning towards the Evo. The main concern for me is that Mitsubishi might not be in Canada, and if they are they might not release the Evo! I'm thinking that if they do make it here, there will definitely be an Evo here to compete with Subaru.

I'm kind of torn because I like the Evo a tonne, but am a big fan of Subaru for what they represent and produce. They just seem better suited to my personality. I didn't know was so popular until I drove down to Vegas at easter break. It will all depend on which I like better during a test drive, and if the extra _____ hp seems worth it to me.

I think it's all a matter of taste, these two have been battling it out for ages, what makes the U.S. soil any different from anywhere else. Some people will go Subie, others will swear the Evo is better. It's what your personal preference is.

Test Drive

After i put my name down for an evo vii at Irvine CA Mitsu. i talked to one of the sales reps about his personal predictions. The guy said that he had worked for a few years with ralliart in the UK and was very exited about it coming to the US( Duh). He also thought that the evo VII would be even more limited then the sti and that there was no way that they were going to be able to run test drives due to the fact that no one wants to buy a previously test driven car and that i would have better luck going to rod millen or stillen and asking for a ride in one of their evo VII's.
Of course as with any dealer sales rep i take it with a grain of salt; however i agree with his prediction and dont see why they would alow test drives if they could probly get away just fine without them.

Less than 1700?! I really doubt it. If it's that limited there would be few dealers getting more than 1 or 2. It's anybodys guess right now....but my guess would be 5000-7000.

This is heading in the direction of a rumour thread.

To begin with, any dealer who doesn't let you drive what you are about to pay $30,000 for is a moron. Walk away after he tells you you cant drive it, and see how fast he chases you down, if he knows you are serious. I would wouldn't give a cent before I had a chance to drive the car. It might be a ferrari, but damn, I'm going to drive that **** before I lay down any cash.

Second, the Evo is coming as a direct result of the WRX, it is here to compete with that, so I think sales will be a bit more than 1700 units, but I may be wrong.

Rumor thread???

why would you call this a rumor thread? Almost every post clearly states people's opinions on what will happen and that leads to discussion and some educated guessing, not rumors. Isnt the topic evo or sti?? and aren't we all just discussing what we thnk will happen between the two... and for the record my friend bought his wrx without a test drive as do alot of people.

P.S. If you can get Ferrari to allow you a test drive let me know were casue i'd love to give it a run as well

Go with the evo.

The Subaru computer sucks. It fights mods if your unlucky or if you plan to keep it stock it adds 10 wheel hp if your driving is aggressive. Believe me the subaru ecu love to retards timing when it finds out that you mod the car! But hey, most scoobies owners keep that a secret b/c it's embarraing! For example 12.9's one day and tommarrow 13.6!! All is possible this subaru's smart ecu

I didnt close the thread, I just said that if it turns into a thread were people start trading "I heard" info, then it will get moved to the Rumours forum. No biggie.

If I get a Ferrari you will be the first to get a drive
