Can My lancer Beat an ACCORD?
Can My lancer Beat an ACCORD?
Hey,
I have a Nice Stick Lancer OZ with a CF Monster vented hood. EVO 7 bodykit-2fast-furious in yellow with 17inch gun metal rims and a CF evo spoiler. The only mods i have are intake and exhaust. My question is will i be able to take a 1995 auto in 1/4 mile? The thing is theres this guy that has that ****ty *** UGLY ACCORD and does nothing but hate on Lancer. I'm Going to the track tommrrow NIght. With a cople of guys. Do you think i Can take him. He says he has 140HP Stock. he told me that hes friends with the same kind of accord ran 16.8 and he said he is faster. He told me he takes SI's and what not.
thanks
Nick

well those are like over 3k like about 400+ lbs heavier then our cars... i beat one before.. but he was stick... and i think i was a better driver.... but if your a decent driver.. im sure you can take him... dont let him scare you
with intake full exhaust and no cat i've done a 16.4 best. i agree wit YL...dont let his crap talkin intimidate you. dont be scurred just run it!
EDIT: he's automatic, you should take him. theres no way he's runnin better than 16.8

I had a 94 accord non v tech auto before i got my lancer.. Plain and simple truth is THEY ARE SLOW AS HELL. 95+ has vtech but thats pretty much only difference, I would be dissapointed if you lost to him. So blow his doors off please

With an intake and exhaust I also ran a 16.4 on a crisp night, At the top of first gear you should be in front, but the hard part will be holding that lead. Don't bother shifting into 4th gear until you hit 3rds rev limiter. you'll finish the 1/4 between 80-82 mph, thats before the rev limiter hits. launch at about 3800 rpm and pump the throttle to stop the wheel spin, and you should have him.
Well, its all about how good you drive now... HP sometimes is just numbers, the HP is pretty close.. Just try to shift good.. Plus you got advantage over him.. You got a standard trany.. Well, i raced against the brand new Altima 2.5 stock, i lost because i had a badd take off, tho it was almost a tie.. He didnt burn me, it was super close.. Like a split sec. And i just have intake and catback... Ima challenge that guy again and take off my subs and spare tire...
I can tell you this for a fact (my friend and I did multiple driver / multiple run tests). A Stock Lancer OZ 5spd is faster to 60mph that an 1998 Acura CL 4cyl w/ 5spd, Which runs the accord 4cyl engine. The Acura weighs more than an Accord though. But hey... You can beat a 1997 Acura CL! Too bad that at about 70 mph, the CL's more powerfull engine begins to pull and takes over by 75-80 mph.. d'oh!

If that makes you feel any better.

here's some info. i use to have a 92 acura integra DOHC 140hp stock, automatic with a CRAP load of miles, ran perfect though. anyways, i took it to the track just to mess around and see what it could do. my best time was 17.3 in the 1/4mile. now i'm not too sure about the accords, but arent all the older accords SOHC? i test drove a SOHC VTEC accord with my sis, and it pulled pretty good, but i think the non-VTEC accords SHOULD be slower due to weight and all that good stuff. anyone feel free to correct if i'm wrong. if your a good driver you should definately be able to take him, especially if his car is neglected.
