Question Evo Maintenance

I'm interested in buying the Evo once it arrives in US. I'm also wondering how much will it cost to maintain it. Does anyone have any ideas?

It's turbo. What type of oil will it use? How often will I have to change the oil and filter.

TIA

It's like any other car really. I would at least change the oil every 3000 miles if not sooner. The more often you change the oil the better. Being a turbo, it may be better to stay away from synthetic oils like Mobil 1 as they are can be a little too thin for turbo cars. Regularly check fluids, pads, belts, etc.

Actually, Mobil 1 in the US comes 5W50, 15W50, and 10W60 fully synthetic. Their oil filters are good, if you can find one for the evo (same as eclipse gsx or gs-t). Purolator is also great (my second choice).

OH, ever since I started using 10W40 like the manual suggests, my car has been running better, and the good part: no noisy lifters.
Try a few combinations before you settle for a habituous oil change.

I will assume the USDM EVO will be 92+ (some states have 93) or the highest possible for being a turbo car.

Probably is tuning the ECU to take 91 octane or better for crappy American gas.

Fuel

FUEL:
Can octane boosters be used...are they effective?

Can ethanol or other additives be added for better performance?

There must be "racing fuel" for WRC cars, no?

What is it, how different, etc.

My main interest is in being able to add a bottle of something to every tankful and having the ECU tuned to that octane...or even having the spare tank (carbon-fiber, will be mounted in spare wheel well with direct feed to main tank vs. switch to feed separately) filled with racing fuel for the times I want absolute best performance (nitrous system will also be installed). The ECU can have multiple programmed "modes" (groups of settings) as I understand..so it could be changed from the cockpit to premium unleaded (~93 octane) setting...premium plus additive (?~100 octane?? )...racing fuel...or nitrous with racing fuel. This would allow running inexpensive gas almost all of the time but having the ability to really boost HP when wanted.

OK. WHO KNOWS FUELS?!? Speak!

I use mobil 1 synthetic in my GSX. Most DSM'rs do.

Octane boosters aren't what they are cracked up to be. To get any real higher octane here in the US you should use race or AV gas.
