What's up guys, my name's Matt I have a 08 Evo GSR. The car's stock at the moment, BUT we'll see how long that lasts

I picked up the car used last week and it has 58K on the clock. I have since changed the motor oil and did the tranny oil Tuesday. I'm going to drop both oils out on weekend and look for any problems.
I notice the the car seems to grind & chunk into 2ed and 3ed gear. I did see the sticky thread about this issue and I used AMSoil MTG oil this time BUT it still grinds. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix that? I see there's a Redline oil cocktail that people have success with... anyone here try it?

Also, has anyone attempted to change the other oils..transfer case, diff, AYC, ACD. I'm OK with the tranny and motor, but the other one seem to scare me a little.

thanks,
Matt

JRP is a distributor for Redline in Canada so I can help you find a shop close to you that has the fluid you are looking for. Hopefully that helps. Sigh... but that issue is something that affects alot of evo guys

Welcome to the group... pics of the car? Come out to the next meet (March 23)... we need to get all the EVO guys out of winter hibernation.

There are write-ups on this forum about changing the various device fluids on this car. Check out this thread for example... https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ld-change.html

the grind will not go away but it will get better over time. another thing to take note is that in freezing temperature here in canada the tranny oil will take longer to warm up thus grinding appears. I've tried letting the car idle for 4-5mins before driving and grinding is reduced to minimal and only happens if I shift below 2.5k. For redline cocktail thing, most of the guys that mentions improvements live somewhere warm. I'll wait till summer and see how the shifting is before putting in the cocktail.

Mine doesn't grind every time.. It's more like once or twice every few days. Even at that I'm very disappointed. I was able to find a redline ol deal just across the border. I'll be changing out the AMSoil and trying the Redline cocktail this weekend. fingers crossed!

About the grind, Redline now has a new product MT85 that eliminates the need of mixing.
I'm probably gonna go straight MT90 or 2MT90:1MTL as I track my car
