my friend has an 2003 lancer throwing a 02 code. i know the logical way is to buy a new cat, (really not like to) but is there anyway to turn off the code to pass inspection?

 

Buy a new O2 sensor.

 

There is a TSB on the front cats on the 03-05 MN195801 should be the part #

 

yeah i had an issue just after i bought my car with the SES light throwing and o2 sensor code. stopped into my mitsu dealer just b4 80k on the odometer (like 79,500) and they replaced the cat and reflashed the ECU as per the TSB free of charge...

of course that's a law in new jersey, 8 years or 80k miles the dealer has to warranty any emissions parts if they go bad. not sure about other states.

take it to the dealer have the pcm reflashed if your car is under 80,000 miles and they will replace the cat for free also...

 

what is tsb... And i need to buy that same part.thats the cc near the manifold right?absolutley needed to pass smog right?

 

the one near the front of the car is the main.. what u see towards the muffler is a resonator....

 

that part is 450 from the dealership...i just wanna make sure thats what i need before i get it,and the code was saying something about my warmup level being below threshold and to replace the front catalytic converter.and im prob gonna have to get a water pump and belt while im at it =/
