Hi i would like to know what people think i should do. I Just got an OZ rally and i need more speed. I can do one of two things turbo this car or save that money and buy an evo but if i do that i am going to lose money on my trade in. I also dont know what kind of turbo i should put on i know i need new pistons. Thankyou for you help.

If you have to save money to buy a turbo for a 18,000 car, chances are an Evo isn't in yOur budget. Drive what you can afford before all else.

EVO means more insurance costs etc. At least turboing OZ will not cost you money in the long run. Pay cash for everything. Don't borrow more money! Don't go into more debt.

just go turbo. evo is too high maintenance. and also, you'll be losing out TOO much on the trade-in since you said you just bought it. you'll probably end up with like $1000 montly payments. just keep the lancer and hook it up for all its worth. and upon saying that, roadrace motorsports will soon become your best friend as you will notice very very soon .

I certainly wouldn't call the Evo high maintenance, especially compared to a turbocharged Lancer, but the difference in monthly payments and insurance will make the car much more expensive. You can always buy a used Evo in a few years once the Lancer's paid off, right?

I'd go with a turbo. If you just got that OZ...I wouldn't do a trade-in, it's like throwing money away. Besides a turbo makes you plenty fast enough. And you can add more mods along the way. Also, insurance is a real killer. High performance cars like that just cost way too much. One of my friends was originally gonna get a used rx-7, but it turned out the amount of money for insurance each year would cost more than the car would.

Man tell me about it. Even though i have OZ i still get 250 monthly insurance payment. Almost as much as car payment thats why i have to wait till i save money in order to buy MODS for car. If i turn it in and get EVO chances are ill have 300 insurance and 500+ car payment. So ill stick to my SLOOO Z and later turbo the hell out of it.

Go Evo

I've been through 7 cars in the past 3 years, so I know a little about your dilema with trading in a car you just got... I a trade-in is not such a good idea in your situation... but I wouldn't start upgrading a naturally aspirated car either... you are just asking for problems and to spend more money fixing them, and it's brand new, way to void a warranty... you are just going to run into a bunch of problems... my solution: sell the car, as a private seller, not a trade-in. You can probably get pretty close to what you paid for the car, or at least what you owe on it...Then you can buy the Evo and won't have to worry about getting the same kind of power, or the looks... of course, that's just my 2cents

the most financial sound thing to do is turbo the OZ now, and look to just sell your car in like 2 years

What I'm doing is waiting 4 years and pay off my OZ. Put 20kmiles on it and put about 6grand into it. sell it for about 10-12G's. Then put 10-15g's down payment on an EVO. hopefully they wont turn gay looking and the price will still be around 30g's but thats my 2 cents good luck!!

lol good luck getting 10-12G's for a 4 year old lancer....mines 2 years old and its not even worth 9,000...even with stuff invested in it....that will only make the price go down more. this car has HORRIBLE resale value

resale value all because of the badge, I think I'm going to put a Honda or Toyota badge on the car when I sell it, see if middle aged people would go for it

Here's a pic of what's under my hood. Spent close to $8k so far. I'm about $2k away from perfection.
