Idle problems
Idle problems
So today after installing tail lights on the 02 lancer I took it for a drive and I noticed that the rpms were really low when I was starting it up. the car seemed like the car wanted to die. Would this problem have to do sumthing wit unplugging the battery? And how would I be able to get the car to idle normally as it was before?
Unplug the battery for 30+ mins.
Plug it back in.
As soon as you finish connecting battery turn on car and let idle for 15-45 mins. I let mine idle for an hour.
Drive normally for 30 mins. No flooring it or anything. Just casual driving. Shift point would be 3k rpms or 3.5k rpms. I chose 3k. that is all.
To answer your question yes. The ecu has to reteach the engine how to do it's job.

yea everything but the shift points. Just dont floor it. I choose to drive normally for 500 miles before I started doing that stupid stuff again. I gain 500 miles easy withing a week and a half.
alright welli followed through on ur advice. took the car awhile to adjust its idle but the car runs good only thing is that when the car is shifting into anothergearthe car sounds like its choking on too much air from the intake. so ima fix the intake and see if that stops.
