he said he pulled me because my 'tinted yellow headlights'.
http://www.highperformancebulbs.com/nost1hyye90h2.html
he gave me 2 citations, 1 for that and 1 for 'having a different address on my drivers liscense then my actual address'.... i moved into my apartment 5 months ago from my parents house and my liscense has not been changed since then....

Well, are those fogs or headlights?
And I dont know about SC but you have 10 days after moving in WA to update your license. In WA you can either get a new license, or update it via internet through DOL (hard copy will reflect old address, but the DOL return the officer gets when his dispatcher runs your name ...my job... will reflect the new one)

If you have normal headlights (non yellow, dont know if there is a yellow rule) and yellow fogs, take his dumb *** to court

I have yellow fogs, but have never had an issue. However, I've also recieved a citation for my address being incorrect on my license. I kept thinking afterwards, if I would have told the cop that is where I currently reside, would I have gotten the ticket? Not sure, but it's an easy citation for a desperate cop to give out.

I don't think yellow headlights matter. Certain cars had yellow headlights from the factory in the past, mainly German ones.

...then again, that depends on your regional laws.

and yellow lights are more efficient in inclement weather.

No the office may not give you a ticket if you lie about the address, but If you said "im headed home" when he pulled you over, then saw your license was 3 cities over, or you are headed the wrong direction, he would assume you are lieing, and then assume you are a lieing to hide something, then the k9 comes.

Did some searching for you...

No mention of color...

and even still, sidemarkers are not required by USDOT, they are however required by Japan DOT... hence our sidemarkers.

I tinted mine, and I figure if an officer tries to hassle me, Ill explain that it is not illegal or a saftey risk to tint something that is not required..

For example, say sidemarkers add +1 to the saftey rating... My car is +1 more safe than required by US Law, by tinting them they are ... lets say... half as effecting (not as bright), so now only +.4 saftey rating....

Well dim amber lights > the ford escort with none imo.. if the cop wants to fight it, Fine il paint em black and have no transparency

Note: Laws governing the use of these bulbs vary from state to state. Check with your local authorities for regulations and permitted usage.

Check your package it might even say offroad use only... I know in my state it is illegal and to tell you the truth I wish they would give more tickets for this. I hate jacked up F250's with HID's/brighter bulbs because they blind the **** out of me and I cant see for 5 mins afterward.

Many states have a laundry list of stupid laws that govern all types of modifications. You are most likely screwed.

yea i they are yellowish headlights. its kinda dumb i agree how you can drive around in blue tint HID and you cannot in yellow tint regular bulbs you can buy at a custom shop. ill post a pic up later but yea thats what i was looking for on south carolina because headlight color does differ state to state.

for the liscense thing.... i dont know where to start, so many people have said this is stupid.. i can guarentee 95% of the students at my college have addresses that are their home addresses and not the ones they live in now.

to me its a despirate cop trying to catch a drunk driver at 12 at night in a yellow car. o btw... it says some scribble of $275 at the top of each, that better not be the ticket price.

Did the cop say anything about your "radar det."? They usually hate those things.

could be a city ordinance, around here they don't like anyone having red or blue because it resembles an emergency vehicle they say.

You need to change your way of thinking....

Rather then focusing why you got the ticket, figure out what you are going to do to fix it. If in fact they are against the the city ordinance, than it was not n act of desperation, but rather a citation for a violation.

You may be right, it may have been PC (probable cause) to pull your vehicle over, just to see if you were drunk. However, if the cop was so desperate as you say, he would have also tacked on every violation plausible, I'm sure you have an exhaust and plenty of other violations that you COULD be cited for.

The facts.... You got a ticket, it ****ing blows ... i know I hate it too...

the truth, you took a gamble by breaking the ordinance (If there is one) and need to pay a fine.

Now I cant speak for the conversation that took place between you two, but also reflect on how that went... were you as polite and courteous as you could have been? ( I dont want an answer, but be honest with yourself) If it truly was just a reason to pull you over for a dui check, and you were polite there would have been no citation.

If you were polite and you were cited, than i was not a PC for a simple DUI check, it was an officer calling your bet you wouldnt get in trouble for breaking the law.... believe it or not, officers have a large amount of responsibility and "making up" laws is not something they can do.
