Ok so yesterday I got into an accident becuase after a toll a guy cut me off and I swerved to not hit him and ended up going off the road and hitting a gaurd rail nose first at about 60 miles per hour then bounced off and got clipped by the guy going about 60 and I was spun around on a 6 lane highway and my air bags still didnt go off my lancer is FUBAR so I was wondering could this be a potential law suit against mitsu becuase I am pretty sure they should have gone off or is this just a waste of my time and I should just pursue othere things?? Just wondering how this is all going to end up and who is going to end up paying for it.

 

a minivan hit me head on at 25 and they didnt go off... sorry to hear about that accident, that is a nasty one. i hope you are okay. im not sure when they are supposed to go off. are the lancers airbags second gen?

 

well if the sensor was never touched they wouldn't go off...so i dunno, i would defeinitely try for it though....to spin around hit a guard rail and get hit..and them not go off is not good.

 

mm. you'd actually seriously consider suing a company when the cause of the accident was the other driver/you ? how does the airbag not going off cause the accident / give you the right to ask mitsu to pay for the damages ? surely its the other guys fault for cutting you off.

(tolls should have cameras if other driver disputes it)

Im not saying its Mitsus fault for the accident but that is a safety feature that could have possible been needed to save my life and it wasnt there. Also had they gone off I probably wouldnt have gotten a concussion so I feel that they are still responsible for there faulty equipment. And im not saying that Im going to bring Mitsu down I am jsut trying to figuer out if its even a plausiable idea or not.

 

the air bag smacking you in the face would give you a concussion by itself. if it didn't go off most likely is didn't need to go off. look...your fine now......it usually only will go off with a head on collision....not a side abraision or spinning around.

 

wow... when i went into the certer divide on the freeway (long story), my bags went off... i was goin slighty faster then you at 67 MPH and i didn't hit straight on... i hit the divide at a 45 degree angle and the bags went off with the quickness... so i think that's weird how your bags didn't go off...

 

This might have something to do with it.

 

Thank you Pjal my accident was basicly a 45 degree angle so they should have gone off I have pix but I dont know how to get them up here. And I dont understand why you guys are getting defensive if you were in a car accident and your airbags or seatbelt didnt work you would be pissed to I mean yeah Im ok but what if I would have had a passenger they should have gone off end of story.

 

You say it was a 45 degree angle which would be really similar to the impact illustrated in the owner's manual. Or am I completely off base?

And hence why I don't think his went off if the initial impact, like he said, was at at 45 degree angle, which is pretty much the angle they show in the picture.

i dont know if they should of gone off, i dont know how far back the front end was pushed inwards. but that does look like apretty nasty accident for them not to go off
