Just bought a Lancer but having trouble with the dealer, advice?
I'm not sure exactly what they cost, but I got backed into right after I first got my car, and I was relieved that they could repair the spot instead of have to replace the whole bumper. Bumpers are hundreds of dollars before labor, paint, etc. My $379 hole fix would've cost...who knows? if I'd have had to replace the whole bumper.
This site lists the bumper for a GTS as $365.38. That's not including any of the work to install it, either. I wouldn't think it would come with a VIN, though.

I can't remember what California law is toward contracts, but in MN you can walk from a contract within three days. HOWEVER, the law doesn't apply towards vehicle purchases, so once you sign the contract, there is no going back. However, I'd argue that you have other ability to cancel the contract considering that you have not taken delivery of the vehicle.
Most of the newer Japanese cars have started putting VIN numbers on almost everything. I know for a fact my evo ix has one on every door, every fender and both front and rear bumpers. However if you decide to get them to put on a new bumper with out a vin number, you might have problems down the road when you try to sell the car. The person might be aware of the VIN number situation and claim that you car was in an accident because the front bumper has no vin number on it stating that its not the original from the factory.
