I would appreciate any advice..

Hello to all. I am new on this forum i have recently taken notice of the 2011 Lancer GTS Touring edition.

I would appreciate any PROS/CONS about this particular model. Since Im considering buying/leasing one, it would really help me if experienced posters could school me real quick about the car.

Also, i was considering leasing the car, but i wanted some opinions from people that have leased a few cars and what your opinions are about the whole process from the dealership to the maintinence etc. Because i don't know what i could be potentially getting my self into cause i have never leased a new car.

I currently drive a 2001 prelude an it has about 220 hp and 170 torque, i really hope the GTS is not only competative against my current car, but even more performance oriented cause i love my prelude, except it has 70k+ miles on it not so im looking for a new car, and i love whats going on with the new Lancers, esspecially the GTS, simply becuase i cannot afford a Evolution lol!

look for a used ralliart, for the price you pay for the 2011 lancer gts touring you can get a used ralliart much cheaper with about 20k miles or so. you will never get the lancer gts to be as fast as the ralliart unless you go turbo.

If ralliart isnt your thing then go used 2009/2010/2011 lancer gts, they depreciate so fast that you can get a steal for about 15-16k.

heres one quick find i saw online

should be plenty in the LA area...check out southcoast mitsubishi.

This is just one dealership im sure you will find about every available color option for the ralliart used in your area for < 23k.

Wow that is appealing. But i think i need to buy new cause im very obssesed with being the first owner for mileage and maintenence. Although i am entertaining the idea of buying used cause you do get more car for the money, but you also get more mileage, and unknown use and that chaps my **** lol

I'd always suggest new if you can afford it. My ex baught a used Hyundai with fairly low miles yet u don't know how bad it was treated. Within a year of purchase the trannys syncros pretty much exploded. The tranny had been severely beatin.

sounds like your ex just bought a lemon sucks but it happens.

people who have purchased new cars have also had freak problems it can happen to anyone but if you want to get raped by 5-8k in depreciation then go ahead and buy new, or just buy from a used car dealership who offers extended warranty. i bought a 2007 scion tc used after i bought my 09 gts new, the scion tc had 34k miles and now has 70k miles and its been about two years since i bought it and i havnet had 1 problem. i bought it from a scion dealer, the oem warranty expired at 36k miles (2k miles later) and they offered a 120k mile warranty (total)/5 year for 3500, i declined.

when buying a used mitsubishi FROM a mitsubishi dealership many offer a warranty for 2-5k that is similar if not better than manufactures warranty (though not cheaper)....use some of the money you saved from buying used to pay for an extended warranty.

i just think the 2011 lancer gts touring ,which can have an msrp of near 24k, is ridiculous. if anything get that car for 21k otd or less...otherwise like any car you just lost a couple thousand when driving off the lot but with this car (like any mitsubishi) you just lost about 5k considering the most you would get on trade in is 19-20k and once you hit 10k miles good luck getting more than 17,500 for it....

why do you think these ralliarts are so cheap (and can probably be negotiated about 1-3k cheaper) ? because the depreciation is terrible.

dont get me wrong i bought new but i got a great deal, the msrp of my car was 22k, i paid 20k otd, tt&l in my state would have been 2k, so in total i saved 4k off the car which was great considering mitsubishi had 0 incentives at the time of my purchase (4b12s had just came out).

I guess i was just trying to answer your original question. you know the 4b12 has 168hp 168 tq and probably weighs more than your prelude.

if youve taken care of your prelude like you claim you do then your prelude should perform better than a new 2011 gts.

so if you want an affordable performance car then a used ralliart is your best bet.

the 2011 lancer gts wont be a 200hp machine without a turbo kit, which cost about 4500 and then say bye bye to the warranty.

if you end up getting the 2011 gts make sure to get the 5spd performance wise its about 1.1s faster than the cvt.

good luck with your search.

The lancers is not going to compare to the prelude, not even a little bit. If you want something more comparable, I'd suggest looking into the Ralliarts.

Personally the two best things about the regular lancers are the exterior styles and the price. I'd argue that you can't find a better car, with a better warranty, for a lower price. There are a few minor flaws or poor design aspects of the lancer. but nothing major.

Hmm thats interesting, i thought the GTS might have been peppy enough to outperform my prelude. I just cant believe my 10 year old prelude would beat a brand new GTS. Its gonna make it bitter sweet! i hope the torque & its nice tranny of the GTS prooves me wrong lol
But yea just to give you an idea of how well i took care of the prelude, i pulled it off the lot in 2000 brand new. It was the last 2001 model in production so i got the last one (not litterally, just meaning car is discontinued now) .anyway i only have 73k miles on it and its on its 11th year as a weekend car and have changed the oil every 3k with sinthetic kept clean and babied alot with all scheduled maintenece done in advance lol So if i get an Lancer GTS, it will be kept very mint!!! i hope!
