How do I black out the badges on my car?

I recently blacked out the tail lights:

And I am very interested in blacking out the Mitsubishi emblem and the LANCER on the back. I just have no idea how to go about doing this. I know how to take off badges, with a hair dryer and some fishing wire. But I am very concerned that I will not be able to put it back on neatly and evenly so it looks the way it does now, except black.

What would you recommend for me to do this? Is there any way to paint them without taking them off the car? Maybe some incredibly carefully applied tape?

I would take them off if I were you. I reapplied mine with some 3m tape so that if I messed up, it wasn't permanent.

I blacked out mine with some plastidip and it turned out pretty nicely, an even flat black look

Did it look basically the same way as when you put it on after painting the badges?

I am really nervous about my bad eye for these things to mess that part up.

I debadged my car planning on NOT putting the emblems back on but when I took them off there was actually damage to the paint where each letter was (like an outline) so I was able to put them back on in exactly the right spot

Aha! True, the paint would be less faded than the rest, right? Because it never saw sunlight? Awesome I will hopefully do that in the next few weeks.

Do you think it would look nice on my car?

Also what kind of paint should i use? Standard black spray paint maybe with a coat of clear coating?

Gotcha, and that won't require a clearcoat or anything?

Nah I just sanded them down a bit and sprayed them with 4 or 5 coats. It leaves a slightly gritty surface, not like regular paint. I'll try and get a pic up for ya

Dude thats a great idea, I never thought about that haha. I already de-badged my back end but Id like to black out the emblem on my grille in front. Im probly gonna get a new grille but in the meantime, that should look pretty awsome.
And yeah you guys are totally right about the outlines which is ticking me off. Ive gotten all the old adhesive off, but I think the only way to erase the outlines is to cover it over with a paint job haha.

This is what I did:

I only did it to the front on the grille cause the back is off now, and I like it that way lol. Plus I got a CF emblem for the back that I wanna put on.

I was going to, but the hardware store by me only had these massive containers that were like $10. So I bought the 3m double sided tape and instead of plastidip, I just spray painted the emblem with some black stuff my dad had in the basement. It came out pretty good, but Im thinking about a new grille so its probly only temporary for now...
