cluster LED
cluster LED
I remember seeing a thread about upgrading the bulbs in the gauge clusters, radio, clock...blah blah blah, but i can't find it now. i'm not talking about the How-To with each step a different post, but the one that actually involved soldering LED into the circuit board.
i'm trying to hunt down some part numbers of those LEDs and perhaps the actual guide.
would greatly appreciate if someone could lead me in the right direction, maybe i'm just overlooking something.

On my previous car, I gutted the entire stock incandescent light bulbs for the dash lights and custom-fabricated LED's to glow through everything. It was like a Christmas tree inside. If you are entirely wanting to do custom, here's where I got my stuff:
- LEDs (http://www.besthongkong.com/)
- Resistors (any Radio Shack store)
- circuit board (any Radio Shack store)
- wires (any Radio Shack store)
- glue gun
- soldering iron & solder
Before you begin, you'll need to figure out the voltage of the LEDs and figure out how you want to set them up (i.e. daisy chain them, etc...) and then you'll have to calculate what resistor you'll need, so you don't blow up the LEDs. BestHongKong is where I buy my LEDs and they have a very good selection of LEDs and fast shipping too.
Then, you'll tap the power source into the dimmer light, so that you can dim the LEDs. It look pretty awesome when lit, but some people consider it rice. In either case, you can get your gauge cluster and dashboard to light up just as bright as the AEM gauges. The sucky part, is if you don't do the calculations right and use the wrong resistor or if the LEDs burn out for whatever reason, it's real pain in the *** to go back in and re-hack all of your rats nest wiring (i.e. de-solder the connections or start all over again).
