Does anyone have this kit, it seems like evryone goes wit the RRm turbo kits. Is this a full kit...by full i mean you will need no other parts.

the cheaper kit doesent even have a BOV?
BTW i ran 9 psi daily (drove it like i stole it) on stock internals
for about 5 months and never had a problem
i ripped the motor apart to rebuild and everything looked fine
you dont need any other mods to run turbo you can take a bone stock lancer and throw a turbo kit on it
just dont exspect as much power as you would with the mods

oh yea and the RRM kit dont come with an exhaust manifold it comes with an up pipe big diference

 

I've talked with the flatlander racing guys before and they're extremely knowledgeable about Mitsu engine/drivetrain parts. Their kit is a hell of a deal. I think they sourced the parts from their Mirage kits and modified it to fit the Lancer. For the savings on the Extreme Lancer package with the t25BB turbo, compared to the RRM intercooled kit, you'd have enough to get it installed, and then some, I'm sure.

Not to discount the work that was done for the CARB cert, but if I go FI, the sticker won't influence my decision.

 

So am I correct that a turbo would pass smog in any state other than Ca and NY? If so, we Californians live a sheltered life

 

Hmmm..... I dunno. Not an FI guy. How much restructuring was done to the RRM turbo to get it to CARB regulation status? For purposes of emissions, can't you replace the CAT?

If that doesn't work register your car in one of the counties (or parts of counties) that DON'T require emissions testing in WA It's really only King Co (Seattle), Pierce Co (Tacoma) and South Snohomish Co (Near Seattle, and includes Everett, with its rather dense population and Naval base) that require emissions.

There aren't any visual inspections here, unless you're a dick or the emissions tester is a dick. Hell, most of them are so baked I'm surprised they know how to turn on the machine.
What's really got me pissed is that they changed the regulation acouple of years ago and have gone back to the rolling dyno style test and the frickin tech has to drive the car

From what I understand, RRM didn't have to change the turbo kit, they just took a car that had it and got it tested (which costs a lot in itself), so there was no sacrifice other than the money to test it, which most companies don't want to spend. The other kit would probably pass, too, if they wanted to take the time and money to get the test done, but they don't. Oh well.

I just wanted to know what our collective lancer minds feel about this other turbo. I mean come on who would not want to save a couple hundred dollars. However we all know the outstanding quality and reputation that RRm has, so what i mean is unless thois other turbo equals the RRM one i am not sure if i would be the sacrificial lamb that would put it on my car.

 

doesn't the RRM one come with fuel pump/injectors?

i could see that being the ONLY thing that would make me get teh RRM kit over this one...but still, 1.2-1.3k just seems a lot for fuel pump/injectors so i dunno...i'd liek to try though lol

 

You can get a really good FPR from vision imports for about $235. It's the RPW unit and has a pressure gage so you know how much pressure you've added or removed. I don't know what features the RRM FPR has or where they get it.
