I hate to think about it but if I don't hear anything about it coming in the next 6-9 months I will have to consider getting something else.
I've been debating that myself.
The new WRX seems a bit overweight to me (~3150 lbs), and 227 hp could be better. The catalyst before the turbo would definitely have to go. Everything I hear about the transmissions in those things makes me want to run the other way. Much over 300 hp and you've got major problems. Same transmission problems with an older RS with bolt-on turbo job.
I really like awd with lots of power, but if there's no lancers here, there really isn't anything else. I'd get an 99 eclipse gsx, but those are hugely overweight also, especially considering how small they are. Not particularly fond of the suspension and cramped interior in those either.
An A4 is possible I suppose, but that's starting to become some tall dollars once you get it to 300 hp or so. Does anyone know how these hold up to more HP? Porshce brakes bolt right on to those -- that'd be handy.
After those I'd have to go to rear wheel drive. A friend of mine just bought a used 94 RX7, and that seemed like a pretty killer car. Supras are too heavy. I hate all V8's. Not wild about 300 HP in a fwd car either.
So that rules out just about everything. The lancer evo is really what I want. gobs of power, lots of grip, huge brakes, a non-grenading transmission, and a solid chassis. Now seriously beginning to consider getting a mirage body and swapping all my evo stuff over to that.

I have been lusting after a Supra for the last two years after owning one for a year and a half and totalling it. Now that I have found the EVO it is the one i want and my wife has even made me sign a contract to that effect. That is how serious i am about getting this car. If Mitsu doesn't bring the EVO to the US i dont know what I will get, probably go looking for a supra again. As it is right now i have started saving money for a down payment on a EVO and hope to have one by at least next Nov., or die trying.

The wrx is nice, but a little too spendy on a 8.50 hr job
. I like the 97-99 GSX. Its one of the closest things to the evo we have here. That and the aftermarket for it is huge. If I cant have the Evo then I will at least put an evo turbo on the eclipse.
