Out of the four car you mentioned, only the Nissan Altima 3.5L V6 has great low end torque. If you plan on driving this car everyday in stop and go traffic, the Altima is the way to go.
The EVO and WRX just do not have enough low end torque to zip around in city traffic. But, those two cars have the ultimate potential in high horsepower once you get the RPMs up and boost. The EVO and WRX will smoke a Altima in the 1/4 with the proper mods, but they will suffer low RPM duty.
My turbo Eclipse with a 20G turbo produced only 65 horsepower at 3000 RPM, but @ 5000RPM it shoots up to 340 to the wheels. In fact it was such a violent spike in power that the wheels actually hopped off the dyno and could have gone through the entire performance shop. Luckily it was strapped down well.
So if you want great response and low end pick up, go with the Altima. If you want no response but tons of top end, go with the EVO or WRX. It's up to you.

JeffGST doesnt know his stuff, dont listen to him.
The Evo 6 produces max 270+lb/ft of torque at about 3000rpm
That's way more than enough torque to move around town.
The beauty of it is that, once 3000rpm is hit, the turbo hits max boost and away you go.
The WRX max torque is at 4000+ rpm? That is still a lot for driving about town.
Back to your question:
When do you need the car?
If you want to wait for the Evo/STi, get a cheap used car for the next half year or so.
Do you need class/prestige? If so, get the Audi.
It's a very nice car but a bit pricey.
