2012 Lancer GT - 5speed enthusiasts unite!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I didn't know where to put it. Please move if necessary.

I want to Point out something to everyone who's interested in the 5 speed version of the new Lancer GT.

First of all, there is no touring package available for the 5Speed.

The Touring package includes

Leather Seating Surfaces
710-Watt (Max) Rockford-Fosgate® Punch Premium Sound System including 10” Subwoofer
SIRIUS® Satellite Radio w/ 3mo Service Provided by SIRIUS From Date of Sale
6CD/MP3 In-Dash Head Unit
Bi-Xenon HID Headlamps
Rain Sensing Wipers
Auto On/Off Headlights Control
Heated Front Seats
Power Glass Sunroof
Auto Dimming Rear-view Mirror w/ Rear-view Camera System
Rear Lip Spoiler (replaces rear wing spoiler)

The list of available packages for the CVT gts are as follows:

| ? |3,550$
GT TOURING PACKAGE
| ? |2,000$
NAVIGATION WITH REAR-VIEW CAMERA (REQUIRES TOURING PACKAGE)
| ? |2,295$
NAVIGATION PACKAGE
| ? |350$
POPULAR EQUIPMENT PACKAGE
| ? |335$
LED ILLUMINATION PACKAGE
| ? |450$
CHROME PACKAGE
| ? |295$
INTERIOR SPORT PACKAGE
| ? |695$
ALL WEATHER PACKAGE
| ? |80$
ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS
| ? |350$
REAR PARK ASSIST SENSORS
| ? |595$
REMOTE ENGINE STARTER
| ? |55$
WHEEL LOCKS

(yes, I copy/pasted from the website as of 12/4/11)

Now look at the list of packages for the 5 speed:

| ? |2,295$
NAVIGATION PACKAGE
| ? |350$
POPULAR EQUIPMENT PACKAGE
| ? |335$
LED ILLUMINATION PACKAGE
| ? |450$
CHROME PACKAGE
| ? |295$
INTERIOR SPORT PACKAGE
| ? |695$
ALL WEATHER PACKAGE
| ? |80$
ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS
| ? |350$
REAR PARK ASSIST SENSORS
| ? |55$
WHEEL LOCKS

Note that none of these packages have HID headlamps, a Sunroof, rockford fosgate subwoofer, or 6disc changer options...

This is terrible...I dunno about anyone else, but I've waited all ALL summer for this car...my IDEAL car is a stick shift lancer, with the ralliart's front grill...and all the features in the touring package.....It's a sophisticated package, and honestly that would probably be the car that I would drive for the rest of my life.

is forcing us to choose a power-sapping, noisy, overheating transmission instead of an energetic, fun to drive, easier to shift, 5-speed manual.

Either choose that transmission or sacrifice all the features of the lancer that actually make it APPEALING in this market. (besides it's styling and performance I mean...lol)

let me know what you guys think about this? I honestly would like to start a petition to have that package on our 5-speeds also....Otherwise I'm sticking with my DE, there wont be any reason to upgrade...it would be cheaper to replace my bumper, customize my own sunroof, and buy my own HID/GPS/CD changer. Probably a grand total of$5000 instead of 20,000. <.< but I want ABS,4wheel discs, sideskirts, and I want it all at SIGNING! >.>

Just checked it on their site. This is some bs, no if, ands, or butts about it... In order to get ANY of the things such as sunroof, RF audio, HID lights, or really ANYTHING that is of importance, you have to buy the GT CVT model, they don't even make it an option for the other models, not even the SE with the AWD system.
This is crap, not happy with this...

My thoughts exactly. I am gonna start an online petition...this makes absolutely NO SENSE. it doesn't "keep costs down" either...the CVT is 1000 more than the stick...and thats 1G that can go towards the GPS or anything else. it makes NO SENSE!!!! I've waited all summer for this car...both the SE and the GT.

I wanted the SE, but it only comes in CVT so I wanted the GT instead (mostly for the new front bumper and all the extras)

I'm outraged.

Honestly I don't really care about the whole navi thing, the only redeeming quality that has is the ability to record maitenence ect. An even that is meh at best. What upsets me is that they aren't offering the SE (AWD) in a stick. Probably because they know that someone could just toss on a turbo and get Ralliart performance out of the powertrain. They have to keep people in for the RA and the Evo. But I think it extremely stupid for them to take aqay all the other options like HID's, RF audio, and so on. AND from what I can tell the DE doesn't even come with an AC???!!

That Sucks. Good luck with the petition, It didn't work when they tried to get a 5 speed in the Ralliart. You can get factory approved aftermarket leather at the dealer that is better quality then the stock elather for around 1k, you can also try to get the factory HID's off an Evo or Ralliart like other lancer owners have. The factory RF upgrade sounds pretty good (I have it in my car) but still think for the $ an aftermarket nav/dvd/amp/sub would sound even better. The auto wiper/ lights are not that big of a deal. the only thing that would be missing is the moonroof.

So for under 3k you can have most of those options, the leather i think can even be financed into the loan of the car.

That is very true, but at the same time I could do the same with my DE (minus the ABS and cruise control) I'll look into it, the salesman who tried to tell me that the GT isn't real.....is now telling me that they WILL come with those options...even though it goes against the website...

he could be right, however. My 08 DE isn't supposed to have 4 wheel disc or factory AC...it has both even though two years ago it wasn't available on the website. (ac was, but not 4wheel disc)

anyway, I'll keep my eyes peeled and let you guys know if I start that petition.

I will be getting a Lancer GT 5-Speed (with Navi) too. I really wanted the HID's and Sunroof from the Touring package but it looks like that's going to be a no-go. Oh well. I like the Ralliart front end though.
