So you've seen a completely different car make more HP than a Lancer? Wow! That's shocking! [/sarcasm]

Funny, my '69 Camaro was always faster than my Lancer, too. I wonder why?

Ok, seriously, NOW I'm done with the sarcasm. You cannot compare an AWD, factory-turbocharged Talon to a FWD, naturally aspirated Lancer. Complete apples-to-oranges comparison.

If you wanted a 586hp AWD Talon, then I'm pretty sure you should have purchased an Eagle Talon. But, since you own a Mitsubishi Lancer, perhaps you should be more realistic and try to plan for how to own/modify/enjoy that.

Cheers.

You could always keep the Lancer as a fuel efficient daily driver and pick up a second car to turn into some fire breathing beast.

Yeah, really no point in throwing thousands of engine mods into a car like the lancer, which was made for fuel efficiency and grocery shopping.. but at 16, you are probably already getting killed on insurance from this one car, imagine a second. One thing you can do, is suspension work and take it to autocross events - best advice one can give to a young person (keeps you off the street doing stupid **** and autocross pushes your car and mostly yourself to its limits). Last thing a 16 year old needs is a fast car to kill himself in.

Good points, but 16 year olds don't want to hear about suspension mods and learning to be a skilled driver.

They want turbos so they can score poontang...

Riiiiiiiiight.

We live in a country where 8 year old girls are going through puberty and you frequently hear about pregnant 11 year olds...

Yeah, it's not like Mitsubishi ever made front wheel drive cars with the 4G63. Oh wait, yes they did, the Lancer and Galant come to mind.

No one could ever pick up the engine, transmission, front suspension cross member and various other parts of an Evo IV for $2500 and put that in their Lancer.

No, that's far out. Whatever engine came in your car you better stick with it and get groceries.
Heaven forbid ingenuity and elbow grease when you could thrust yourself in debt for car payments.

Love your sarcasm.. awd tranny on a fwd car? I am new to this forum, but i am pretty sure you would need to convert it to awd, which means rear diffs/axles, probably different driveshaft, exhaust system, etc - and tons of fabricating.. you think some 16 year old would have the cash for that? Also to have no car for possibly for a few months, maybe a year or more, depending if he is doing it himself? And this does not include upgrading his hubs, converting his rear brakes to disc, and front brakes to something bigger to support his new motor/tranny. I can quote about 10k easy for such a project.. Hope he has a full team of elbow grease lol.. And to conclude your idiotic post, he asked what he can do to his ENGINE (4G94) to add some power..

Im new to this forum, but it seems like 4g63t in a lancer is almost like what ricers who gets a 240sx saying they are going to drop a rb26dett.. i just laugh at such fools..

You seem new to more than this forum.
What happens when you weld up the centre differential ?
Try looking at the gearbox along with the front and centre differentials as separate components rather than one. Even just searching online you would find examples.

In this forum you can find users who have done the swap. I know of one with a Mirage who welded the centre differential. The user Lancer1.6 in the link below also has a 4G63 in his Lancer.

No AWD conversion was done in either case.
Regarding brakes, it does not sound like you looked at advertisement the link goes to.
Again, the price quoted was $2500.

Regarding my idiotic post, I was addressing the user who wanted to make the post about the Talon seem invalid by showing that the same engine in the Talon also goes into the Lancer.
It can be done, it has been done, without half of what you say would need to be done and for way under the $10 000 you quoted.

Yes, I will agree that anything CAN be done.

But expecting everyone to do it is a different story. There's a difference between being the one guy who has the time & money to turn a grocery getter into a monster (and I've seen some amazing Lancer builds here on EvoM over the years) and being the other 99% of us. I can tell you for a 100% fact - I am not capable of doing that. I don't have the time, money or wife to allow me to do something like the projects you are suggesting. And most other normal people are the same way.

Wake up to reality. If we could all turn $12,000 cars into monsters, we all would. But that is not real life. Only the select few get to do that.

A few people have done the swap but it's not as straight forward as most people would like given that the Lancer is generally their only car. I wouldn't want to be down my only car for weeks or months on end. It also comes with a host of other potential concerns, like parts availability and reliability. Every dollar spent trying to make a car something that it's not is a dollar that can be spent buying a different car.
