Engine Performance!

Hey Guys!

I Just Got a 02' OZ Rally a month ago, I'm 16, I'm Willing to put money into it over my high school years. I'm Wanting to Give the Engine a bit more power. I Just ordered a K&N Short Ram Air Intake, what else Can I get To give the Engine more power? I been hearing About RRM Headers anything good from Getting that? Anything other parts that Will help me out?

Thanks,
Andy!

tuning...lean out your AFR and you'll make more power...but OZ rally's are pretty slow, so i wouldn't pour too much money into it, unless you go turbo...you can spend as much on N/A power mods as it would cost to buy a turbo kit, and it'll will be more work, for far less gain...

just do intake, exhaust, and a tune and be done, get some rims and have fun with it...nice little cars, not meant to be fast...

Well this can work. And your right OZ's are Slow, and I guess more for looks than for Speed. Any Exhaust systems I should get, Cause I don't know much about Exhausts Yet.
Thanks,
Andy!

yeah, do that...Bones, you tuned at all?

And i'm not trying to rip on your ride, my Ralliart ain't much faster...if you want a fast lancer, you need boost...if you want a fun car, suspension, engine bolt ons, intake/exhasut etc. you can even play with compression as well, i.e shaving the head, and using a thinner head gasket...

No I'm not. Last time at the track I ran lower 16's, on the 18's I havent noticed any difference. Maybe on the 18's 16.3-16.4 at the most.

There's a difference between sounding fast and being fast. Nothing short of a turbo will make a Lancer fast. If you want to learn a lot about cars, go for the bolt-ons and do the installs yourself. If you want to make your car and engine look better, go for the bolt-ons. If you want power, go turbo or start saving for a different project.

Turbo or nothing. Focus on the suspension. With the right setup, the car handles rather well.

It depends what you want. Will a header give you big power? No, you're looking at a couple of HP, tops. Will it change the exhaust note? Yes. Will it look better? Yes. Is it an easy install? Yes. The choice is yours.

Will it be the best N/A mod, yes!

That's debatable. I've yet to see anyone actually dyno various NA mods so we have no idea. I would wager that tuning is the best NA mod, within reason. A header makes the car sound faster but based on my own experience, the power difference is negligible. It was a fun install though.

Too many factors dictate track times. Before and after dynos are the only way to go.
