Friends I've turned to the dark side :(
Well after waiting around for an Evo and having time to look around I found a car I finally placed an order on.... Today I ordered the mustang Mach 1
BHP 300+
zinc yellow with black spoiler and black scoop
It's a beautiful car and it run a 12.9 with racing slicks anyway Just thought I would tell the forums. Oh Yeah MSRP is 28900 and only 6500 units are being produced.
P.S. Still though EVO'S RULE

The new wave of mustangs are indeed very nice. I was very close to buying a 2003 Cobra the other day after test drive one of them. The new cobra is pretty sick with a 4.6L supercharged V8 @ 7psi, 390BHP/390LB! the price, $32,000(dealer give a deal). That in the vette's power range for $10,000 less. It WAS fast, very fast, go test drive one at a SVT dealer near you. I'm still a import guy but the new Cobra is sick sick sick.
here's a funny story about imports and mustangs for you. My roommate was driving down the street in his 99 35th Aniv Mustang , few mods on it) and 3 civics started messing with him well he left them behind 2 times and about 2 miles down the road they finally caught up with him. Finally they caught him at a red light and he rolled down the window yelling D*mn Imports!!!! The other driver got pissed and we have no idea what that guy had aboard but he smoked my roommates 260+ horse modded mustang. When he finally came home he told me the whole story and he said "well time to get a new toy and mod it these D*mn imports and beating me.
Even though I'm getting a Mustang...still IMPORTS RULE

import vs. mustang
The imports have a security glove feel that I never had in my mustang. So fast from stop but once you get to the corners or on the highway which is where much of the racing is done round here the Imports would fly by because I was reducing speed into curves and they were accelerating. Handling on the imports is much better. I loved my mustang tho...
I don't really care for the new mustangs. I'm probably gona get a 1990 5.0 GT for like 4 grand and dump the rest into mods ^ ^ Those things ****in smoke. I saw a race between I think a 1988 or 89 5.0 vs a Mustang Cobra the 5.0 blew it away hehe. That's been pretty much the car I wana get right now and do work on ever since I've seen one that ran 7's with stock engine with mods and stuff on it ^ ^ Oh well I talk a lot >_< Have fun with your new car.
I always have fun racing the domestics rather than the imports. I feel that there is more of a battle between a V8 and I4 than just import vs. import.
You can tell at the drag strip, because fans love to watch the rivalry. It's not unusual to see a import lose to a domestic, but it's embarrassing for the domestic when it's the other way around.
Here in Las Vegas, I love it when a domestic wants to pick on me. Try me and see if you can keep up.

Personally, i wouldn't be proud at all beating a V8 with I4 turbo
charged... and how fast you go beyond stock parts and stock setup
is really just how deep your pocket is...
Not saying drag racing is bad or anything.. (it's hella fun!!..
) but justthis rivalry of domestic vs imports or V8 vs I4/t/sc is pointless...

Even the muscle car magazines love to put the four cylinders down with their "no replacement for displacement" sayings. I saw one magazine this month with the headline "Import Killer."
You also have to remember that different regions have different tastes in cars. In Southern California, imports have the full respect of the domestic owners. Imports are the mainstream over there. But in Las Vegas, there is still a huge V8 following that just loves to pick on imports. I just wish I could get each one to line up with me so I could lay the law down. Granted that a 12 sec quarter mile won't beat everyone of them, but I will take most of them out.
I personally like being the underdog. I enjoy making slow cars fast. From your post, I can see that you are into the sleeper look. I'm all for that. I think a 4 cylinder in the 12s is the ultimate sleeper.
