whats your auto tranny shift points?
ok so i was browsing the forums and i came across a thread about which is better the auto or the manual tranny. and in this topic some people were saying that if they manu-shift their auto's they can take it up past 5k. now what i was thinking/wondering is that.......am i the only auto ES that the tranny shifts itself at 5,900. if i manu-shift i can take it up to rev-limit of 6,300. so i just really want to know where everyones full-throttle auto shift points are. just curious. thanks

I can get my car to auto shift around 5500 rpms, but i usually feel bad about flooring the gas, lol. If i shift myself i can usually get up to like 6000. but yea i know what ur talking about, i am just not sure its good for the transmission.
without shifting gears myself and mashing on the gas i can get my car to hit 5k+ no more than 6k.
manu-shifting it i can red line the car if i wanted to...but i dont...duh...
also to warn you guys...i've already gone through 1 transmission! dont manu-shift your car so much you'll end up destroying your final drive and your car will get stuck on 3rd gear! seriously...the cost of repairs was over 3k! luckily my car was under warranty and that Mitsu knew that the auto trans for 02-03 Lancers were junk! without questions asked they fixed the final drive and the bearings and such but what hurt me the most was that i was Lancer-less for almost a month!

this may be a really stupid question.
..but what is manu-shift? Are you guys referring to switching the shifter from 1 2 ,3 and then drive? If thats the case...I'm only assuming that "D" means like 4th gear maybe?
And isn't it harmful to switch like that through those gears on a regular basis, besides going up hills? By the way...i took out my air filter (stock) and put it back in, b/c i realized i needed an adapter for a SRI, so after i put it back in . my car sounds a bit louder, and nicer, after it hits like 3k rpms. Weird? Can any one explain that too?

i have an auto es with mods ** listed below **
and when i mash on the gas, the odometer goes up right till redline, then shifts down to the 4 then rideline and so forth, but to answer your question...
my car does that too. It started doing it aftter the intake i think.

mines all stock and it goes to about 5800.
my only mod performance wise...well...i unclipped the front intake with the tube to the bumper, and pushed it out abtou an inch, than bent the clips down between the opening to keep it open.
at 3k...man it sounds nice!!! im gonna be getting an intake this weekend hopefully and maybe a catback soon also

ahhh i redline mine too much cause i use my car on canyons and figuring out the hard and painful truth that my car is a peice of crap and cant perform like an evo but im always droping my car from drive to 2nd and leaving it in 2nd when im running canyons which is like one a week at least and on a few times ive redlined it..oh well oh yeh btw stock rotors suck a$$ im only at 15k and they dont stop wtf pos
well if your going on the canyons and probably abusing the breaks much more than the normal person would by 15k, u get what u get.
dont abuse the stock brakes, of course there not ment to be as good as the brembo's on the evo or as good as aftermarket ones, but there good i think for stock brakes on a 15k car.

same, i can mash it an hit rev limiter or i can manu shift to the same point, maybe it is the turbo but once i get to 5,000 rmp 6,000 is right around the corner. and it drops down to 4K which is smack dab in the middle of peak boost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that turbo must be sweet with that tranny shift points...agh! if i didn't have to drive so many miles for school and work i'd be boosting and intercooled along side with you
