like some of u may know, I broke my 03 OZ's auto shifter while chanign the color of the climate controls, i checed around and the shifter was gonna cost me close to 2 Bills to replace it or i can go for a ****ty aftermarket one, which none fit like OEM, so after countless tries to many car ccustomizng etc shops i decided id stroll on over to the dealership to see what they say, i expalined my problem to them and the service rep told me that warranty would cover it, this was great, they didnt have the part in stock so they special ordered it and its on rush delivery
, and i am going to pick it up tomorrow, no charge. not only that but my brakes were squeeking like hell and it was time for some new pads so i talked to the service rep about that too and they covered me on that and changed my pads and cleaned the brakes and the total cost came to 150 bux but they wanted to show their appreciation to me a lancer owner so they waived the fee and wrote it off as waranty work!! woohoo
overall
's service gets an A+, not only did they fix everything for me for free but they were very kind and helping the whole way through

I think your on your own with your happines, most of us have been burned by Mitsu at least once. I mean my dealer either compliments me on my mods or threatens to void the warrnety, depending on which oil change Im on. The brake pads for free is definately an odd and very cool story.

ya, actually i asked my dealr what in terms of mods ill void the warranty, he said nothing really can, unless the car is deemed totalled then warraty is voided, he noted tho that if i get like say an intake, and my CEL goes on and they trace the problem back to the intake then they wont cover that in warranty, and if i did add a bunch of bolt on breather mods then warranty on those would be hard to do but they would still honor the warranty and do the otheres that are not affected like the tranny.
also my dealer kinda recently went under new management (after i bought the car) and they are really cool and do a lot to please the owners, especially the ones who bought their car w/the old management cus they sucked

My mitsu dealer has been pretty great as well. They have fixed things repeatedly and been very friendly and easy going.
The law more or less states that they simply CANNOT void your warranty for modification unless there is DIRECT evidence that your modification resulted in the damage/part failure. That's the deal... but most dealers say otherwise and convince you otherwise.. and most people just don't want to fight. but that is the law in the US for warranties.
But glad to hear you got good news!

my mitsu service sux, i hate em , and try to avoid them at all possible. i learned to change oil, brakes on my own to avoid them. but then it came to tranny fluid changing-so i had to give in, bent over and let em do it.

I read somewhere in one of the forums that if they say that certain aftermarket parts wont break your warranty, that you should get in it writing. Does each only apply to your own dealership? or can you use someone elses written concent from a different dealership? since they are all mitsubishi. ???
You think you can get them to change my brakes for free to....everytime i go up to my dealership the guy who sold me my car follows me around and keeps tryin to talk to me....i think he wants me bad, lol..the service guys are not so bad...they pretty cool but i dont think i can get anything for free from them...wow you got lucky as hell
this is the experience i've had and heard from many people in regards to warranty claim if you have aftermarket parts regardless if its even closely related to the problem, i.e you have bolt exhaust and your taillights go out, you bring it in for warranty this is what they will say.
"oh its modified, we can fix it, but we will have to rip out the whole thing in order to figure it out, and if we find that your mods caused the problem, we will have to charge you a lot of money, probably $1000 because of the labor it took us to take all the things apart and find out its not under warranty"
now to me, that is an apparent threat for no obvious reason, so if anyone else encounters a situation i would tell them "fu(k you" talk to my lawyer and please write down exactly what you said so I can sue your dealership.

well if u want free brake change and your under 12,000 miles then go to them and tell them that your brakes are already ****ed up and u only got X miles, i read in the warranty manual that the brakes are warrantied until 12,000, at least on my car, so i just told them that and showed them my warranty maunal thingy and they said that would be no problem
