i have a 2002 lancer and it has been buggin me lately. the main fuse box in the engine compartment has what appears to be relays which control the engine, a/c, etc. well first my car was draining the battery and i noticed that one of these relays was constantly on draing the battery. also when i put the key in the ignition and the dash lights up brake, oil, srs, etc, i notice the the service engine soon light will not turn on and as such the car only cranks but does not fully start. i have narrowed down the problem to a section of the engine fuse box which i assume are relays. when i remove this middle relay and insert a paper clip in only two insert areas, the car turns on. i need to know what has happened to this relay to cause this short circuit. no recent mods have been made and i am baffles, please advise if anyone can assist me in solving this problem. thanks.

Not sure what youre talking about with the fuse box.

Did you buy the car used? I wouldnt doubt if it has an SES and the previous owner messed with the dash light to get it to be un noticed
