I know it's been beaten to death but I picked OZ trim level because:

(1) Very good looking gauge cluster
(2) Interior is black w/ silver accents - I hate light gray or tan
(3) Cruise control standard
(4) 15" wheels standard
(5) Variable intermittent wipers standard - I hate fixed interval wipers. In New England mist you appreciate the variable feature
(6) You get everything in ES convenience package as standard on the OZ: keyless entry, fold down rear seats, rear cupholders, color keyed door handles

I'm sorry, but, i think the 15 inch wheels standard is a real detractor. I mean, come on, if you're gonna name a package after an aftermarket wheel company (even though the OZs on your cars are actually made by Enkei), I think they should at least be 17s.

Totally agree that the OZ labelling is cheezy on the wheels. I also agree that the OZ naming of the trim level is a bit stupid. I think a "GT" trim level instead of OZ would have been better, since GT imples touring versus rallying. Hell, Ford sold enough Escort GTs (yes I had one way back) to the young crowd, so why not Mitsubishi as well.

Maybe 15's are too small, but 17's as standard would mean the ride quality of my car would go to sh*t over every pothole and other crap pavement surface that I drive on everyday - and it's not even winter yet!. I've bent alum rims on a previous car that had a handling type package upgrade - it sucked $$. The ride was also so stiff it rattled every piece of plastic inside the car loose. For me it was misery - never again.

Mitsu probably figures the track type crowd will just poney up money for the exact mods they want anyway so they just put out the package in vanilla form at a reasonable price as a foundation to build on.

Well, it's not uncommon for other cars this size to have that size rim... the new GLI, the Spec-V, and I think that some Foci have that size rim... maybe they're 16s...

In any case, I don't DISLIKE the rims, but, like I said, if you're gonna name them after the wheel company...

baaa...its a gimic and i bought into it...i know i didnt want an ES or an LS...if i didnt get the OZ i would have probably bought the Sentra R Vspec. I also wanted the yellow color and the other trims dont have the yellow as well as the wood trim, i hate wood trim...OZ was a good trim level but they should of tacked on a grand or two and offered it with a beefier engine and 17 inch wheels so it would be a more respectable lancer and help justify the name... my $.02

Hi. I have an LS. All the reasons that people are giving about OZ, is exactly why I didn't get the car. I'll list why for you.

1. I could be wrong, but your OZ logo, floor mats and white gauges still don't make your car a damn bit faster then mine.

2. The interior is the exactly same other then the cheap trim that the OZ has.

3. It's a Lancer. I love my car, but is not a race car. And no matter how hard everyone tries, it never will be.

4. I like my wheels better, that OZ looks quite tacky. But that seems to be the look everyone is going for with those.

So, if you feel the need to pay an extra grand to get tacky *** white face gauges, a tacky OZ badge on the back that does not make your car any faster, and of course those go-fast floor mats, then hands down the OZ is for you.

You also get in the LS the cruise control standard, 15" wheels, same wipers, keyless entry, fold down seats, rear cupholders and color keyed door handles. Oh and by the way, I get two more speakers with mine. it's all goes back to those damn white face gauges...

well i got the oz cuz that was the car my friend had a deal for me with... well another reason why people got the oz is.... DEALERS LIED TO THEM... hahaha i know a lot of people fell for it... cuz i saw it happen to people... sales people dont know jack about cars... well some do... and when they do... they do... but the ones that dont.... know crap about cars... and then there are the ones that are convincing... and lie that the oz is rally inspired and its better... the ground affects and spoiler makes it handle better... and the average joe would be like REALLY???? WOW... I HAVE TO GET THIS... there is a word for this in korean... saying that korean is my first language... but... i cant think of the english word.... ummm... taken advantage of? well i dunno but hopefully whoever reading this understands... but yeah... like i said earlier... the dealer tries to convince u... acts SUPER nice... and u fall for it...and buy the car... i know u guys know what im talking about... thats why they always say...bring the wife along when ur investing ur money in something like a house or car and etc... but yeah... everyone got there car for a different reason... some fell for dealer tricks... some people likes the color... some people got a deal on it... some people just like keeping there cars stock and thought the oz looked better then the other 2 lancers... so i dont think it really matters what we have... cuz they all the same in performance... so lets just be happy we are one big lancer family

BluAngel - I never even considered a LS trim since it's an automatic only. In my book, the only thing an automatic transmissions does is waste hp instead of getting it to the wheels. So an ES or OZ 5spd is or should be slightly faster than your LS.

I've also previously agreed with another forum member that the OZ labelling / stuff is somewhat tacky.

I wish people would read a thread from the beginning to end before they posted - it shows you really are trying to listen to all the various opinions of the forum members vs just chiming in with your .02 cents worth

I wasn't saying that there is anything wrong with the OZ. However so many people on here are saying how much better they are because of things that don't even matter. How can you not consider the LS a trim level? That's about the dumbest thing I've heard. I thought that a forum like this meant that you could post your opinion, so I threw in my two cents. God forbid I didn't happen to have the same opinion as you. I could care less who's is faster. You may be a little faster, but it's a Lancer. It's not the race car everyone wants it to be.

It can be a race car with lots and lots and lots of time and $$$, thats my plan anyway I bought the OZ mainly because I wanted the color of my car to be yellow. It catches alot of attention and I have the only one in my area. The white gauges are nice to look at and I like the ground effects. I was really thinking about getting a body kit but now I don't think I will. I only want a different grill but other than that, I like the OZ look and I am going to put my money into engine mods.
