I helped my friend do this on his rx-7 and it worked perfectly.. The bracket bolts into the bottom of the seat so all you have to do is unscrew the bolts.. i'm pretty sure the bracket on any car would be attached to the seat in the same manner.

Not ALL aftermarket seats have the bolt holes 12" apart. This seat I have in my garage has the bolts 16" apart. I need to fabricate my own bracket for it

I tried this method and it DOES NOT WORK. I spent forever trying to get the rivets apart that hold the seat to the bracket. They are not made to come apart. I broke a craftsman screw driver and pry bar trying to get them apart. Everyone that is putting racing seats in their car, just spend the little bit of extra money and do it the right way by buying the custom made brackets to bolt to the racing seat. It will save tons of time and hassle. I don't know if its just me, but I would spend a little extra money to do things the right way, especially with a safety feature in a brand new car.

This is an IDEA on how to use the bracket. only a good HOw TO if you want to take your seat apart ONLY. buy the brackets if you plan on keeping your new seats..

I just tried this and all I gotta say is this was the biggest pain in the *** and waste of time I have EVER had to deal with my car. I'm in the process of looking for some seat brackets that will work...

yeah this didn't work for my '04 ralliart
started with the passenger seat just to try it first, got the whole seat broken down to just the bracket with slider and reclining mechanism, at this point there's nothing else you can take off, its all riveted together, even if you could some how cut the unnecessary stuff off it would put your racing seats REALLY high up, much higher than stock

I think this option may depend on whether you have the seat height adjust w/ knob option or if you only have tilt and slide action. My 02 lancer has the knob for the height adjust which makes my brackets much more complicated.

I did the exact same thing for my 06 oz without seeing the thread...but the seats are WAY too high they're almost 4 inches too high with that method...does anyone know seat brackets that fit the 06 oz? the passenger bracket is different than my old es in the oz because of the airbags...any suggestions on makes?

I have finaly fixed my seats...you will have to get the rails off the seat brackets and weld 2 brackets inside and then drill holes for the driver side seat and passenger seat if you don't have a 06 oz....on my oz the passenger bracket was in 1 piece so 2 holes could be bolted on with the bracket when i took the rails off and only needed 2 small metal brackets to bolt from the seat brakets to the seat rail
