omg you dug up a ripe one lancerman. . . this thread is freaking ooooooold. . . grammar is not welcome here either. . .

for the record to keep this on topic, I bought my lancer with 79K on the ODO and its now about to tip 84k i think. its been about 6 months that i have owned it so thats about normal i suppose. but i havent had a problem really. . .theres a funny noise im investigating, but it doesnt seem to be harmful at this stage. its definitely not a bad noise, just something im curious as to what is casuing it and if it may cause a problem. i love my car and i plan on seeing it well past the 100grand mark

Its old but we have more miles on our lancer now than back in 2004 so I figured this thread was still good to comment on.

I've got an '03 ES with a little over 62,000 on it and it's fine. Just do the normal maintenance like oil changes and it should be fine. I've drag raced (more for a joke than anything, these are pretty slow in a straight line, I've got a '71 Cutlass for that! ) and auto crossed my car too, and it still runs great.

I'm sure the guy that started this thread has made his decision by now, but just for S&Gs I'm going to comment as well. I have an 04 and I just hit the 50k mark last week. Never had a single problem with anything on the car falling apart or being cheap or crappy. Trust me I've beat the hell out of my car, I believe I've actually caught some air on my drive to work 2 years ago. screwed my alignment up a bit and my head hit the ceiling, but after fixing the alignment, its all good.

115,000 with insane driving since it had 3 miles on it...had the belts changed at 100k (which looked absolutely fine to tell the truth and didnt need to be changed) and water pump...spark plugs changed at 80k(also were in good condition) and brakes/air filter/oil changes...

the car is still running great even after far to much abuse...
