how many miles do our lancer need before it starts wearing down?
I know this guy that has an 02 Oz, the car has over 175,000 miles on it. This car is mainly used for courier driving, so he gets roughly 125-250 miles on it per day.
He has changed the timming belt twice, maintained the oil changes and regular tune ups. However he has an after marker air filter that is filthy dirty.
I dont see any reason he wont hit 500,000 before he needs a rebuild, mainly because this kind of driving is a lot easier on the car. The tranny is also auto.

I have an 02 with 115K miles on it...going strong...I do the oil change and spark plugs regularly. I put on cross drilled and slotted front brakes as well as the magnum fuel rail.
I need to do the drums and my timing belt still as well as the stage II intake upgrade I got.
Great car i say and oh yes I beat on her badly...I don't drive under 80 and my lance has been up to 120 and let me tell you she was flying...

My lancer has some 66,000 on it, I bought it at 50,000. I've never had a single problem. I've drag raced in it, driven it like a lunatic down a very twisty set of highways, and done everything short of trying to break it for it's first 10,000 miles. It's the most reliable car I've ever owned. Granted I do take better care of it now. I'd say how many miles you buy at should depend on the vehichle history. For insatance, hearing what you just did, some people might not wanna buy my car cause I drove it so hard for quite a while. Even if you find one with 60,000 miles on it, if the previous owner took care of it, it should be fine.
At 29,000 right now. Had it since 8,000. The only time it didn't run well was when i forgot to reset my ecu. About to go in for my 30k maintenance tomorow!
Seems like these cars last a long long time, which is typical for low hp jap cars. just take care of it

**** i bought mine with 55,000 miles.. it's at 60,000 now.. only 1 SMALL problem that caused my check engine light to come on.. a loose connection on the pgr or egr valve.. w/e it is.. but they hold up quite well.. and besides a new clutch mines been flawless..
I'm at about 56,000 miles. I bought the car brand new (with about 150 mi on it). No problems at all. Stock everything.... I am just changing my brake pads for the first time now, and the only services I had were regular oil changes.... NO complaints for me... except the cheap paint!!
