I wonder if that's why I got tagged this morning for going 75 in a 65 zone in Castaic. I had missed my exit and the next one was 14 miles, so when I was coming back, I was in a little bit of a hurry, but was keeping within 10 mph of the speed limit going down the grade. Sure enough, a cop was waiting on the side of the freeway, I was the only car in sight and the trucks must have radioed each other because they were all in line going 50... busted! So, it might be a few more months before I get to put another mod on my Lancer.

Yeah, like the police are the enemy. I work close with Law Enforcement, and I always feel like "Hey, we're cool at the office, but, I know when I hit the streets, all bets are off, huh?" when dealing with them. I've been keeping within 10, but, I'm still shocked I haven't been pulled over in a while. I do get alot of nasty looks from cops every day though.

Nobody hassles me in my TSi AWD. Even though it's a real sports car

Actually, I always wonder how many people act like me. I don't think the cop is an enemy, he's just doing his job. So after he gave me my ticket, I thanked him and asked if he could help me find Castaic Middle School. Heck, he was probably glad to know I didn't think he was a ***** for doing his job.

Technically, pulling people over for a model name is like pulling them over because of their opinion that they liked the car and bought it, which is not much different from being pulled over for the color contacts you are wearing, which most people would agree is entirely wrong. It's like racial profiling except with cars.

Did that make any sense?

BTW in that post i was in no way trying to say cops are the devil. They are doing their jobs just like you and I, but yes they are sometimes biased or unfair.

I agree. I don't usually have a problem with them doing their job as long as they're not ****** about it, which, quite a few of them are. I mean, I do a job where sometimes I have to "hassle" people, and occasionally apprehend them, but, I try to be as polite about it as possible. Some cops just have something stuck up their craw.

i've got a few friends who are officers, and on top of it all, my FATHER IN LAW is a sargeant over in yorba linda, so i'll be among the first to back these boys up and what they do... for the MOST PART. i'll also be the first to tell you that even they (the officers themselves) will admit that a lot of cops lose perspective and priority and start acting unprofessionally and irresponsibly. if you think about it; being a cop's a tough job to do right... you see all this crap all day every day, and some officers start to think of humanity in general as a bunch of evil crime-contriving people... and then they start making semi-subconscious judgements and stereotypes (think about how hard it would be NOT to in those circumstances), which lead us to where we are right now in this conversation.

so; my .02? ... big props to the cops that can keep their head on straight and do their job correctly. and to the others... go take a vacation or something, and try to remember why you became a police officer in the first place; to keep us safe from criminals, not to peck at modified cars for minor traffic violations.

i dont have a problem with cops, i work at a bowling alley and on saturday nights they have a cop there to keep things down cuz lots of ppl like to stand aroud and cause problems....at a frickin bowling alley of all places...and the bar upstairs has problems to so the cop goes up there and the problem is solved by the time he reaches the top of the stairs, lol.

i dont have a problem being pulled over...but when i get pulled over twice in the same nite for having my headlight out..and i tell the cop 'i dont have any place to put hte light, because i was in an accident and the part is in the mail" and he still gives me a warning..when i CANNOT do anything about it..cuz i had a light in there..but it has no protective covering and it was out in a matter of 2 days and it angled straight up...and i can see the tops of trees that are 50+ft tall..when im 20ft from the tree...so its not like its doing any good lol

I'll tell you, I'm not even a cop (LP), and it is hard to remember sometimes that not everyone is the enemy. Good news is that I recognize that I'm not a cop (not like some security guards), but, I sympathize. They have a much bigger and broader area to cover. However, there gets to be a point where you know it's just a matter of "another punk street racer" when there is nothing that would indicate that you street race other than a modified car. Hell, I see guys in stock hondas that drive stupider than I do.
