The officer stated that he felt as though I was trying to race a Corvette simply because I passed him on the right. The real-deal was that his lane was slowing down, and I was about to exit to my house and didn't want to miss it.

After running my record and finding nothing, and looking over my Lancer, he said I could go, but I wanted an explanation of what happened. Basically, the CHP has a "list of about 15 cars that are known street racers and will be pulled over if they appear modified or exhibit the intention to race another vehicle." I got pulled over because of circumstances beyond my control, and the letters L-A-N-C-E-R across my rear deck-lid.

If they are pulling over 29-year olds with three kids who only dream of having cars like most of you on here, imagine what they are capable for actual racers.
yo y don't you shave your trunk then? then it won't say lancer....

It's one thing getting pulled over for having a giant wing and NOS stickers all over your car.

It's another to go so far as to stereotype an entire model name. Even when they are completely stock.

i live in indiana we don't have "street racing cars" there is never a prob here. in fact we were racing and an off duty officer called in street racing to a local pd... and the cops just hung out w/ us and looked at our cars..... (not inspecting them, just asking what everything does) they were pretty cool with it, and no1 was arrested or ticketed.

I was "consaulting" my dad on this matter. He is a police officer and he says that pulling over cars b/c of make and model is PROFILING!!!! my bet is that if you indeed do get pulled over for no reason at all. get an attourney and ask if this would stand....

btw its in the dmv handbook that you cant debadge your car, reason being is that if they were really to look for criminals in a getaway car, they state the name and model which is shown on the back of your car, therefore if you debadge they cant tell what kind of car it is.

my lancer actualy blends in well and the cop dont give me any crap, pretty strange to me at first cuz i had a sentra fixed up pretty much in the same way as my lancer, white with chrome 17s, alteeza tails, yellow headlights, and the cops couldt leave that car alone. my record was once a day for seven days and for bull**** at that. one night i got pulled over for the light to my licence plate being out. when the cop asked me for my regitrsation and insurance cards i realized i didnt have them(had a fender bender the day before and left them in my kitchen) i thought hes really gonna get me now. any after the officer told me why he pulled me over, iasked if he minded if i got out and took a look for myself. and what do you know. the F@cking was working. that cop thought i was ignorant and wouldnt call him on it. i pionted it out and the cops whole demeaner changed he just told me to go home and sped away(and didnt ticket me) there is my 2 cents on why i dislike SOME cops
