Oil Change

Hey fellas,

Just purchased my first car, which I am proud to say is a 2014 Lancer GT. Just curious after how many miles do you guys change your oil? Do you use natural or synthetic? Just would like to hear everyone's opinion and what they recommend for the smoothest running car. Thanks!

cause everyone had to check and see what the question could possibly be relating to changing your oil...then read that you were asking how often to change your oil, and what kind to use...which is stated in your owner's manual.

frequency depends on driving conditions, and viscosity depends on mostly temperature...your owner's manual should specify. I use 10w30 in the summer and 5w30 in the winter...though my generation of lancer, the manual states 10w30 is acceptable at temperatures as low as -18 C

I don't think it makes too much difference whether you use conventional or synthetic...I use synthetic and change the oil as often as I would with conventional...keep any oil in the specified range clean and inside the engine, and it will run smooth, no oil is going to make an engine run smoother than another, not that you would notice anyway...just change it and check the level often, to avoid destroying the engine in case of a leak, or high oil consumption...I usually check everytime I fill up.
