Okay, down to business: I’m trying to find 82mm options for Lizzie’s motor. Tons and tons and tons of blow-by (my fault) and it’s time to play with something a little unusual.

I’m working with the US market here, so forgive me if I’ve missed something I can source from somewhere else. I’m not the best at searching Google, anyway, and only started this thread after running out of different ways to word what I was looking for, so please hear me out!

In searching, I have found the B16 rod and piston combo, and while it looks like a great idea and I’ve known about it for a few years, I’m not sold on it. 81.75 and 82.00 aren’t the most common sizes to find by any means, but another donor I’ve found is a Toyota 2ZZ-GE. I can pick up a set of pistons and pins for ~$160, and the pin is 0.0396” thicker, while the compression height is 0.029” taller. I think the rod is plenty thick to take that out for the wrist pin, and I’m pretty sure that the difference in height won’t be too crazy, but the Toyota pistons are flat-topped and the stock pistons are dished. I’m not the best at figuring displacement, it’s been a while since I had to, but the best I can figure is that I’ll end up with something like 10:1 or 10.3:1 CR.

Has anyone else tried to find different engines to source pistons from, or am I the only one stubborn enough to keep trying?
