Thumbs up Best short shifter available

I just had a short shifter installed by prototype fab and it is awesome. I had the B&M shifter and i have to tell you that the prototype is 100% better. The shifter is advertised at 70% reduction but I think it is a bigger reduction than that. If you want one then talk to Cesar. His forum name is prototype fab.

Mine did not come with bushings but I am sure you can get them with the kit. The shifter he installed for me was a test fit and he let me keep the shifter. The same shifter will also fit the Evo so the bushings should be the same for both cars.

Hi there.
Glad you enjoy the shifter Bill!
Here's a picture of his shifter after installation. He kept the B&M knob but not the shifter...

It does not come with any bushings. However, we use lancershop's metal bushings. You can pick up a set of 8pc or 2pc bushing sets off their website.

If you're interested in the shifter, send us a PM! Thanks!

Sweet Jebus that's short! Does it feel comfortable reaching that far for the shifter? Not sure if I'd want a shift knob that far away from me, but I bet you hardly have to move your arm to shift!!!

werd. i'm in no way bashing (just stating opinion). it seems really short. i've driven a couple of civics with dc sports short shifters (which are very short as well), and let me tell you, they feel horrible. way too short, you have to actually make an effort to reach the thing. really uncomfortable. they didnt feel good going into gears either. i guess making them too short makes it feel sluggish/sloppy. damn thats short though.

Quite the opposite really. This shifter is a substantial difference from the stock shifter and takes some time to get used to. It is very solid and stiffens up the shift some. After a week or so of driving it, getting used to it and breaking it in, you may be wanting a shorter shifter!

The shifter is 70% shorter than the evo/ralliart shifter. So it is actually greater than 70% when compared to the lancer shifter.

It does sit lower and you may need to reach about an inch farther. Nothing that you cant get used to though. You could also opt to buy a taller shift knob.

A friend told me that if its too short you lose most of your leverage and weight...the shifting becomes way too stiff and much harder to get into gear. Also that if the thow is too short the top gears will pop, I know someone on the forums who had a little bit of trouble with first popping with even the B&M.

Not sure exactly what you mean by "popping".

I can assure that in the past 2 months of having the shifter installed in our 2 evos, never have we ran into any problems. It does stiffen up the shift a little but its nothing you cant get used to. It has a more solid feel for sure.

This shifter certainly isnt for everyone. There are plenty of other options out there. We just offer another option for those who want a shifter shorter than 45%.
