i wouldn't worry about putting it back and sealing it... thats pretty obvious to most people... i would be most careful about putting the cover back on the part you just painted... because if you don't do it right... it you'll scrape off some paint off the edges... also try not to crack the part your painting

you could try some rain x or a non fogging agent in there. It may prevent that from happening.

Hey Mike. It's really not that hard to do at all. It took me a few hours, and I found a great step-by-step on here. Just don't remember where on the forums it is. As far as how hard it was, it was more time consuming than hard. If you want, I can email you the steps, since I printed them out. Just PM me your email addy.
