Finding Normal Parts

Is it just me and my area or what. Everytime I need to get something basic for my 03 oz lancer I have to work for it...

Brakes went around 25k....had to go to 3 car part stores to find.
autozone was out and had no idea when or if they were getting them in
advanced said they dont even carry it and wont for another 2 yrs or so
napa finally had a set of front brakes in stock.

this is just the front brakes...

Now my right back light is out and went and had to go to 2 stores to find the bulb, well changed it and the bulb is fine now have to go and get fuses....

It just seems that I have to work way to much for just the everyday maintance parts.

yea i know...and what the places keep telling me is that mitshu is stingy about holding onto the stuff so that you have to go to them.... i had to go to 3 places just for some front brake pads....like that was to much....

i was just the dumb one who bought the wrong fuses...but still kinda sucks

just now got 31k on it and already had to change the brake pads, a couple fuses, and already need new tires...i also am shopping in mooresville, nc which is race city, usa (you should see the water tower) and all you see are muscle cars and trucks, lol....actually the import scene is growing due to the rich little punks in the area, lol

Okay, seriously guys, Mitsu is NOT that bad for pricing. Your brake pads? Guess what. LIST is $68 CAD. What does that mean for you? $47.60 USD. (assuming a 1.3:1 USD:CAD conversion). Fuses, yeah, go somewere else obviously, you can pick them up at Jobber Joe's store for 10 for $1. But next time, bring in your burnt one and say "I need some of these".

Also, why not take a look at the sponsorship bar, and call up San Rafael Mitsu, and find out how much your pads are (MR569225), and then go to your local dealer and say "I got quoted $xx.xx for brake pads, can I get them?" and then pick them up there.

Seriously, guys, dealers are NOT as bad as you think--you just have to know which ones to go to and which ones you should avoid, and NOT automatically treat them as evil. As soon as you're a ***** to us, we'll be ****** right back. That's the way the world works.

oh i never said the dealers suck....i want to try to do these things myself for the experience and all...that way i also don't have to pay for labor or anything....i am just finding it difficult to find a store that carries all the stuff....the fuses i know i can get anywhere and that is not the problem...but i was suprised about how hard it was to get just brake pads...and they were only like $37 i think.

i am more or less complaining about auto zone, the one in my area never has what i need for the car and then when advanced told me they don't even carry the stuff i was shocked...everyone has been telling me that mitshu just likes to hold onto their products a little longer than most car companys.

just wondering about the small stuff...i actually got treated like an idiot by one of the guys at autozone yesterday and he wasnt even the one who was helping me just butted in the convo...but then i am a 21 yr old female who i working on her own car so i see that they are worried for the car, lol sorry that was a joke

I wasn't really aiming my comment towards you (Although the fact that you didn't go to a dealer where pads are ALWAYS ready right away was kind of annoying >_>), more towards Majestic Lancer, who says that you get raped at the dealership. Yeah, ****'s expensive. Deal. You pay for the fact that this **** was engineered exactly for your car, and what happened to the guy in my sig happened to every damned engineer who worked on your car--from the brake pads to the windshield to the frickin' PEDALS! OE is quality. And with all OE parts come a 12 month/20k warantee. So if you have a problem with a part within that time, it's waranteed--not like aftermarkets where you're SOL one way or the other.

well try to take yourself down to jersey and go to the mitsu dealers near me.. all the people working to the one i go to basically suck ***. and the next closest one to me is about 30 miles away. and all OEM parts come with a 12 month/20k warranty if you get them installed by mitsubishi themselves.. yea guess what? i paid $220 to get my damn brakes installed by them before.. sucks doesnt it? so never again am i going to mitsubishi for my shiit. that's why i have nothing but crap to say about them.. the only thing they've ever helped me out with is a damn wheel stud.. other than that.. mitsu can kiss my ***

yea they quoted me at like $225- $250 to change my brakes and turn my rotors...i don't understand how it costs that much....i know they brakes alone don't cost but $40 that is my whole thing....might as well save myself the trouble of spending that much money and about 3 hrs out of my day....that was how long it took to get the 21k maintence there. i would go to the dealership but i only make $11 hr and i can't afford to just blow all of my money at the dealership... also mitshu holds on to their patons so they can make the extra money how fair is that....that is another reason it is difficult to locate a store that carries all the basic parts i need

well the front ones are easy as hell to change. but the back ones, i wont touch unless someone who knows about changing drum brakes. i tried once on my buick and ended up breaking the bearing costing me 400 to fix. so i dont know. but the front pads should be easy for you. if its your first time changing out the brakes since your purchase than i dont think you need to change the rears just yet.
