Altezza's!
If y'all don't already know, the main car in Fast and the Furious 2 starring Ludacris and Tyrese (yes, you heard me right - it's the invasion of hip hop artists!) is this baby right here. Craig Lieberman, the owner of the Supra in the first movie, once again returns with this car, which Brian Spilner will be driving. It has also recieved a new paint job for the movie (black, hence the name for the R34 they're calling it - the Blackbird)
Here's some more info on the car: http://www.overboost.com/story.asp?id=522
I was reading another article and it said he doesn't want to do any testing for 0-60 or 1/4mile times, so nothing happens before the movie starts shooting
I think he might be worried about whatever APC products he used. Seriously, how many freakin sponsers does one need?

Judging by the way hollywood did the last movie(an eclipse RS, with the 420a motor), i would say the are us lancer with body kits and swapped hubs converting them to 5 lug. I would think universal studios would much rather spend 15k on a lancer and 5k to make it look like an evo then the 36k each it would take to import one, or three in this case. If the couldn't spend the money to build a real eclipse, what makes you think the would spend much more to get real evo's, again in this case three real evo's
Movie Magic.
You guys...
Let's think for a minute. If an Evolution is going to appear in F&F do you think they're going to take someone's 40-60K car and jump it off cliffs and drive it under semi trucks? NO. They're going to take somebody's 40-60K car and make several cheap copies of it and drive those off cliffs and under semi trucks. The "camera" or "Star" car will only be shown on those close up shots where the star gently putters up to a stop and gently closes the door. Even the much maligned 420A Eclipse show car had a dozen or so lesser copies with Earl Sheib lime green paint jobs. The famous Supra? The one you see chasing down dirtbikes jumping hills was probably a NT auto beater made to look good from a hundred feet away. I betcha Craig's car never got over 40mph on camera.
How many Chargers do you think the Duke boys went through, or Trans Ams did Michael Knight have? If anything, these are the cars you're going to see taking the fall for the real Evolution, or maybe they'll be the bumblebees buzzing around the semis, who knows.

I think I read somewhere that Craig only puts on APC products because he gets them for free...think about it...he probably knows one thing or two about cars...he would know how ****ty APC is, but still puts stickers on his car for the sake of sponsorship.
Pic makes sense. FF2 has 4 EVO VIIs. They have one in the movie and use four identical ones to fill the part. They bought some goodies from me and when they told me about EVOs, I asked a lot of questions!.

seriously tho guys, do you think hollywood movies car about 15k and upgrading it 10k to save 5k as opposed to just buying a car and saving the time??? these movies gross like 200mil + worldwide before DVD sales. why else would they go ****ing up Eleanors, even though it was a fakie GT500.
Cost.
I'm sure a lot of those vendors would offer their products dirt cheap to have them featured in a movie, might even give their stuff away. They could concievably get a tired ex rental car ES Lancer for 8-10 grand, get fenders from Mitsubishi. Free wheels, wings from any of a number of vendors and slap a $500 paint job on them and have maybe a 10-11K investment. But hey, if ROCK saw them personally and Universal says they are the real deal, then more power to them. It isn't likely the camera will ever be close enough for someone to spot a fake from the real deal if an imposter is used. Ain't nobody gonna ever pop the hood on the fake car or show the interior, so theres no need to spend money there. Just use the real car for the money shots. Remember Johnny Strong's/Leon's car? The yellow Skyline? What did it do? Creep up to the races and that's it, no stunts, no high rate of speed. Even with 30million plus budget you don't go risking 60K-80K plus privately owned cars.
Yeah I agree. The R33 in the first one was lent to Universal by Motorex, and they didn't have copies, so it wasn't used. I remember reading that they would of liked it to be the main car though. But GP's right...if a major film studio approaches you with the chance for your company to be featured in a major motion picture, it'd be stupid not to accept.
But if they're making copies of the Lancer for a reason, I sure hope they're gonna do some type of racing with it...it'd be a waste to have it as a car who's purpose is to crash or be destroyed by another car.

Urhmmm. Yesterday a news story aired in Miami showing the actors have at it with some cars, I dont know if they are the FATF2 cars or not but here is what was shown: Paul Walker in a silver R34 with a big wing and some girl in a Saleen. They were just messing around, doing doughnuts and stuff...
And that pic of the trailer, those are definately US Lancers.
