There's plenty. My friend used to go off-roading in his Wrangler near the Meadowlands on a weekly basis. Since his tranny's making funny sounds he's taking a break.

I took my Lancer out on packed dirt with a surface of loose gravel a little after I'd first gotten my car. I was on 17's and Falken Ziex 502's. I had a blast. Small, controlled slides, suspension was soft enough not to feel the bumps and hard enough to maintain good handling. Would I go offroad in it? Probably not for fear of breaking my car, but I'm sure it'd be a blast.
