I'm not sure if anybody has even been reading this thread... i kinda forgot all about it... my dash has been out for about a month now ... the fiberglass dash i made will be going in the car in about a week, When you get a digital camera i'll take some pix and show it to yall... I'll probably start a new thread with the photos and stuff cause i don't think anyones reading this anymore!
I actually painted my dash (while in the car), did a pretty okay job on it, except for some chippage, and the left side of the dash i didnt finish, so i need to take my whole dash out too. i'l; post pics of the painted dash. never do it (IMO). my car smelled like spray paint for almost a week and 1/2.
please check out my post on this thread in reference to the dash...it might help you guys out a bit.

hey chris just a heads up when you remove the dash to repaint....the passenger airbag has gotta come out too. So you really gotta get under there and unhook it and unbolt it so it lifts out with the dash.
That and putting the dash back in after you painted it is totally a two person job, otherwise you'll scratch the new paint on something (I had to repaint)

nah its not that tough, just time consuming. make sure you've got a day or two to really work on the car. Taking it out is pretty straight forward. It took me about 3 hours to get it out of the car, but an hour of that was fighting with the airbag before I knew it had to come out too.
ooh jeez. i usually dont have 1 or 2 days to work on the car. i usually have to work, and stuff. umm - i mean, i figured it wouldnt be like a 30 mins job, it'd be longer . but i just need the lower dash, but i guess it all has to come out.
yeah the top portion of the dash is actually screwed and snapped into the lower/middle section. So to get the middle section out to paint it, you've gotta remove the top part too.
Honestly try and give yourself a full day.
figure on:
- 2 hours to remove dash
- an hour or so for prepping and painting
- enough time for the dash to dry (overnight would really be best)
- then about 2 hours to put it back in.
I'm sure it can be done quicker, but if you rush the job, especially if you've never taken the dash out before you may break, loose or forget where certain screws or parts go.
Just leave yourself enough time. Its really easy.

i'll take that advice. rather than pay $50 for the new dash. ill just have to do it sometime when i have like 2 off days or something, cause ive got summer classes next week. wont have time
I finally have everything strippeds out of my car... The headliner is finished , and yes i put them on a scale and the fiberglass is a little more than half a pound lighter than the headliner (lol) but it looks 10 times cooler. The door panels are done and my dash is what i have to finish. Once finished i will post pictures for all to see. the fiberglassing part is fun, the sanding part is a real pain. But it's worth it. Thanx for all the replies!
