Lightbulb Trouble installing Xenon headlights!

I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer, just regular old ES. Im trying to install these Xenon headlights

http://www.cardomain.com/item/STGH9004

But they dont seem to fit into the little slot. I took out the base, disconnected the bulb, put in the new one, and it wont fit into the little slot that goes into the actual headlight. I think the tiny slots are either off center, or the plastic part of the bulb is too big. They work though, i turned on the car and the lights shined, everything is connected correctly just the bulb doesnt fit into the shiny part of the headlight. Does anyone know whats wrong? Maybe the slots are off center, so i could cut new ones in to make it fit.

Any advice anyone? Thanks in advance

Well you bought the wrong bulb, the lancer uses 9007, if your using 9004, that explains the problem.

Well im planning on cutting an extra slit in it so the bulbs fit the car, since where i bought the bulbs from dont accept returns, i might as well do it, and if not then i can just buy another pair. Think thats a good idea?

No you could end up destroying the bulb, the harness, the entire electrical system etc.. Just sells those to someone and buy new bulbs.

Also, the 900- number is just the mounting type, right? It doesnt involve power, so it wont blow a fuse or anything, will it?

Im not going to make the cut while the bulb is inside of the car, im taking it out, covering the actual bulb with some kind of towel with a little rubbing alcohol on it, and then im cutting the slit in the plastic, nowhere near any wires, metal, or anything. Im not worried about destroying the bulb, i can always just but another since they arent too expensive.

it's the mounting and base type, where the contacts are and which filament they connect to

Just buy new bulbs, cutting the bulbs are are like cutting your springs, only with the risk of death.

Just i want to know how is it so dangerous, i would understand if i totally bought the wrong power of lightbulb, or something in that sense. But its just the size of the plastic encasing around the electrical things. I cant see how it has the risk of death, if i was cutting wires or putting in the wrong power of lightbulb, then i could definately see your point, but im just curious on how this works that its so dangerous?

Well we trimmed them, got them installed and everything. But we noticed that our original bulbs had the power of 65/55 and the new ones have 100/85 (high beam/low beam). This isnt harmful or anything, is it? I believe that the 65/55 is just the power of the stock bulb, so its fine to change it. Can anyone confirm this?

YES, DO NOT USE THE BULBS! I would have thought the fact everyone told you to buy new ones would be enough but apparently no. I would have thought the fact they were the wrong kind would be enough, but no. The wattage is way to high, and the bulbs will either burn out or destroy your harness. Get rid of those bulbs and just buy new ones.
