How-To Remove E-Brake Handle

OK, I've seen a lot of threads on here asking how to remove the e-brake handle. And everyone keeps saying you have to cut it off. But just to settle this, I want to say you don't have to. So here is the how to on removing this.

Also, I believe this is only for the OZ, and RA, because the ES and LS E-brakes are just one solid piece and you will have to cut that off if it even comes off. Someone else migh want to confirm that.

First off, don't twist it cause it wont, its kind of on a track so it only goes on and off, not around.

I just tried every day pulling really hard, then tried this: it will sound like I'm positioning myself to have sex with the car, but it works...put your right knee in the drivers seat your left in the passenger seat facing the back of the car, put the ebrake almost straight up, then pull as hard as you can. When it slid off I flew back into the rearview mirror and almost broke it. I'm 6'4", it was a ***** but it worked.

It's not hard with a lot of steps or anything but I wanted to clear this up. Hope it helps.

Don't evos have a black handle? Wouldn't it clash with the rest of the ES interior? Also, how'd you rehook up the ebrake wires?

well they would except i redid by ES interior into black with various evo/OZ interior pieces from wrecked cars. ebrake wires hook up exactly the same way for the evo ebrake as on the ES. its just two wire clips if I remember correctly

I have an ES and it was easy actually, I removed the whole center console to expose the handle entirely and just pulled straight up...
The rubber slipped off like a used condom!

The whole unit, including where it "attaches" to the floor of the car?

exactly, you gotta remove the center console and then unbolt the ebrake assembly from the floor, then replace it with one from a ralliart or an evo.

I'm trying to get pics of how it is now, all I need to do is seats and either paint or replace the door panels. everything else has been changed (headliner dyed, evo carpet, painted/replace entire dash, replaced center console, shift console, steering wheel)

all u have to do is unscrew the 2 screws inside the arm rest, take off the conter console. Stand facing back of the car with ur legs in each side of the center console (ur butt should be leaning on the head unit) and PULL@!~!@ i got it off kinda easily, but i bumped my head on to the rear view mirror

are you talking about just removing the handle, or the whole ebrake arm? cause thats exactly how my "how to" is only you dont have to remove the center console

yeah, but you don't have to take out the center console unless your removing the whole arm, and to do that you have to take stuff apart.
