Post How To Install Evo Interior?

Hey ALL!

I recently purchased Evolution VII Recaro seats (FRONT, and REAR) for my 2002 Lancer. Front seat installation was a piece of cake, no problems. However, I ran into a problem when I tried to swap out the Oz's rear seats, with the Evolution rear seats. I was told they were swappable, however they do not appear to be. Both mount in different spots, however I found a way to secure the UPPER REAR SEAT, just not the lower rear seat. It seems that the bracket that connects the LOWER REAR seat to the frame is bigger on the EVO seat than the Oz's. Is there a way to swap the stock Oz’s bracket, for the EVO's? Has anyone done this swap, or can provide any assistance? Thanks, I would appreciate any help I can get!

I would just experiment with swapping the brackets. Even if it comes out ugly looking on the bottom of the seat, no one looks at that anyway. They will be much happier just sitting than knowing that it looks fugly underneath. Plus you would have one nice interior. Big step up from stock OZ IMO.

Yeah, you'll have to custom fab up something to mount the rear properly. But with a little work and patience, it'll look great !

Problem solved?

Hey All!

Sorry it's taken so long to respond, been pretty busy with work. All right, first of all I purchased the seats for $560.00 on ebay, EXCELLENT DEAL! I contacted the dealership and purchased the locking mechanism for the lower bottom seat for the Evo. I'm pretty sure I can replace my stock Lancer fitting with this Evo one. The attached photos show the current front seats installed (no problem installing, look pretty sweet) the fitting in which the seats mount, and both the lower seats with the connecting device. I pick up the replacement part today, I will let you guys now how it turns out and if theres any more problems! THANKS ALL! - Brian

Nice! So did you get it all installed alright? I'm curious and want to see the final product if you did. If it looks good I may just get a stock MR interior (the grey/black with red accented Recaro name on front seats) and try to put that in my OZ.

FINALLY FINISHED. Just replaced OZ fitting with EVO fitting and the seat with a little adjusting went in nice! Looks great, nice to have an interior of a $38,000+ car. I will post pics soon, and answer any questions as to how I secured the interior without altering the car.

Sorry to revive an old thread ! Im trying to do the same thing on my lancer and ive ran into the same issue, i can get the upper rear seat to only mount in the middle, the side brackets are much smaller than the ES, and i cannot get the lower rear seat to snap in either. What did you end up doing?
