I have a question about buying a car maybe a oz idk it's a manual, guy doesn't know the year or trim, he is selling it for 400 dollars but it has no title I can probably get the price lowered

why I want to buy it was I have a automatic es and engine is dead I want to swap engine and manual transmission.

Will I need the title if I do the engine swap or it doesn't matter, junk yard price is 700 + labor to remove engine and tranny for pick up

Checked the dmv they said it does not matter if I buy the engine but I can't buy the car and register it I knew that much but I just needed the engine so this coming week I'll be picking up the car and doing the MT swap
