Pulling engine

This may be a dumb question, but can you pull the engine out the top and leave the transmission still in the car? I dont want to have to deal with the transmission if I don't have to.

Yep you sure can. Hard part is going to be separating the trans and t case once that is done should be a piece of cake. I have been told its much easier to do it from the bottom but idk never done it that way.

I'm trying now and i have the engine disconnected from the transmission but I can not get the flywheel to pop out of the transmission. Feels like something is still holding on to it.

once you clear the trans out of the way it should come out no issue. Its how I did mine. Engine side motor mount should be last one to come out. You attach to something on the tranny side, hook up to the mount on the engine side and it should come out being there should be nothing attached.

mono loc you tube it thats what is holding it up. Hard to explain being I destroyed mine doing so lol. Once you get it to click off trans will separate. Once that comes off and you can move the trans out of the way, you can support the engine via lift and you can undo the engine side motor mount and swing it toward the tranny side and it should lift out.

Just realized i didnt. So Ive got the engine bolted back to the transmission but I can not get the monoloc to compress. How do I compress that? Someone pushing the clutch pedal while I'm under it?

Easiest way to really understand it is to youtube it and how it works. I have done my clutch a few times and I still broke the damn thing lol.

Finally got it. That was a PITA.

After that, engine is free but still kinda stuck in the transmission bellhousing. Do I need to move the tranny at all?

One thing I always forget there is a bolt hidden under the trans and is between the input shaft and the trans make sure that comes out. After that yeah you will have to pick up on the trans and get it off the dowell pins after that it should come free. Get that out of the way and motor should come out.
