I'm a big fan of the 3M Adhesive remover (can be found at walmart). Works great but does strip the wax so always a good idea to wax afterwards.

Hot day and fingernails worked for me.
I de-riced my car in an afternoon at the drag strip (Buschur shootout - a DSM blew up on the track, so I had some time on my hands)...

The *best* way to remove vinyl is to use a steamer - like a handheld steamer you would use to get wrinkles out of your clothes. Just steam the decal and peel off (including the adhesive) in one pull. The cool thing about this is that you don't have to clean-up the adhesive afterwards
Second best is hair dryer and goo-gone or rubbing alcohol. The hair dryer will heatup the decal and you can pull it off. You will then have to clean-up the adhesive (glue) using goo-gone or rubbing alcohol.
