Question Chrome Removal from Grill

Ok ive did this a million times and i cant get it done properly.
Im painting my front grill, ive sanded it a bunch with "fine grit, paint removing sandpaper" and the chrome doesnt come off. So i paint over it with 2 coats of primer and 2 coasts of black, and the paints comes off.

What am i doing wrong?????
how do i get rid of the chrome so the paint will stick?

the paint just flakes of. yes.

im using el-cheapo primer, and black engine paint,. which was pretty expensive, im on my 3rd can. ( i did brakes, wheel center caps, and nuts too)

ive tried large grit sand paper, it doesnt remove the chrome or make the chrome rough enough for the paint to stick

I used krylon primer(2 coats), krylon gloss black(2-3 coats), and Krylon clear(1 coat I think). I do have one small chip on mine but it has not got any worse in the past few months. Try using Krylon.< I guess I spelled that right?

if you want a blacked out grille i'll sell you mine now that i have a ralliart one. there's no paint missing, but there are some scrapes towards the inside of the grille on those "fins" in the inserts... nothing you can notice from more than a foot away.

PM me if you're interested and maybe we can work something out.

How much do you want for it? I have been looking for one of those, and my car is black.
