questiuon about CF hood..
questiuon about CF hood..
so this maybe stupid.. but i want a CF hood.. only i dont want to put it on the hood hinges.. i was wondering if you could do 2 sets of hood pins? on the front and back? just wondering.. and yes i know it'd be diff to take my hood off.. but i was just wondering..
why would you not want to use the hood hinges? what would you secure the back of the hood with? what if you break something/need to change your oil/anything else that involves you opening the hood?
why not just install it on the hinges and use pins in the front? that would make the most sense... so you can, you know, still open the hood.

Yes you can. (hows that for a different oppinion)
However doing two sets of hood pins is usually only done on cars where the hood is totaly removed to work on the engine bay. Alot of race cars with light hoods remove the hinge mechanism for weight and room. Then when you come into pit and they need to work on the motor they quick pull 4 pins and pop the hood off and everyone can work on the engine. So yes you can do it however since youre not going to be running the 24 hours at le mans id say its kinda a dumb idea.

Yes. it can be done. There is a guy with a 06 civic si that did that to his cf hood. he puts it up on "stands" on his pins so it sits up level with his roof at car shows. I thought it was pretty cool and different although I myself wouldnt do it. Sorry, dont have a pic.
it'a actually called a tilt hood kit.. http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/Autoloc/products.lasso

I'm not necessarily sure that that'll work with the lancer cause how the grille is part of the hood.. so i'd do some research/inquiring b4 buying it.. but if anyone buys it let us know how it goes..
