I installed a VIS CF hood OEM style and I have raced with it and I do not have the hood pins. Mine did fine at 175 mph.

it depends on the cf hood's thickness and ur hood supports
if it is not hard enough , hood pins r needed to make it stays at where it supposed to be

I have a Seibon and NO hood pins required. Its re-enforced, and I've had the car up past 150+mph.

I had a CF hood on my Integra I used the pins better safe than sorry plus I kinda liked the way they look. I drilled two holes than just dremeled the holes wider to allow for pis to come though. Than I closed the hood slipped the brackets over the pins and used the self tappes that came with the pin kit to fasten the pin brackets to the hood
